So Much for No Girls Allowed

As soon as the Justiciar finished his speech, Nym was off at top speed to collect her things and Nesme from the inn and bring them to the ship. As she arrived at the ship, she noticed that new crew members had not only beat her there somehow, but that they and others were on the ship fixing the masts and the like already. Nym tied Nesme up on the docks so as not to sequester the horse too soon on the ship, and brought her things into the captain's cabin. She selected a corner of the room for herself and hung a hammock near the windows and placed her things around in the corner. Once she was satisfied with her corner, she went out on the deck to watch the crew for a bit, not really sure how to be of service.

As she watched the men on the ship excitedly fixing it up, she saw Carlinya and Talathel's elf lady friend coming toward the ships with luggage. She hopped up and waved at them excitedly, yelling, "AHOY! AVAST! ARE YOU PART OF THE CREW?!" As the two women walked up the gangway, Carlinya laughed and yelled back, "Why yes we are, Admiral Nym. Permission to come aboard, sir." Nym poised with one foot resting on a small box and her fists on her hips. "PERMISSION GRANTED, MANATEES." Carlinya laughed harder, saying, "Do you mean mateys?" Nym gazed into the distance, "No, an Admiral always means what she says and says what she means!" and then smiles broadly at the women.

Nym leads the two women around the ship, and Lailsan asks, "So what exactly is the purpose of the no swearing or drinking ban?" Nym shrugs and says, "I didn't know there was a swearing ban, DAMMIT." and smiles. Carlinya laughs and says, "Well I intend to do both, unless the Admiral or Captain disapprove!" All three women have a good laugh at this.

After a bit, Nym leaves her friends and explores the ship.

What do I find, Dan? I'm exploring all over the whole damn thing.

You should never let a Cleric hire your crew.

Moments after Kevan finished his speech Beranhond was inundated with sailors looking for positions on the ship. The tsunami had damaged much of the fishing and merchant industries and many were out of work and looking for jobs on the high seas. Needless to say, this provided Beranhond with the opportunity to select the crew that he, though perhaps not Captain Darvin, would like. He borrowed a side room from the Justicar and interviewed them one by one. He was happy to see that Scriptus and Codex were volunteering on the crew, it turned out that they had met while working on a merchant ship and thus were a perfect for the ship.

Those that drank in any form of large quantities were immediately cut, which, to be honest, cut much of the prospective job seekers. However, after several hours into the night Beranhond had assembled a crew of virtuous, upright, non-drinkers. In signing onto the ship they signed a pledge not to swear, drink, or smoke on ship, and that in port they would visit neither houses of ill-repute, or damage the credentials of either the ships company or the namesake of the ship. Several of the sailors had already heard Beranhond's words so signed immediately, but the crew also included several who worshipedother Gods and to them Beranhond pleged complete tolerance and freedom of religion.

In essence, Beranhond had surrounded Admiral Nym and Captain Darvin with an ideal crew of hard working, pure, and wholesome sailors. Now, this should not reflect on Beranhond' choice in people nearly as much as it does on his humour and pragmatism. He knew that Darvin had in mind a rought and tumble crew that would swear and be all pirate-like, and this was certainly not going to be that kind of crew. Pragmatically, a crew that was drinking was not as effective as those who did not drink. A crew that pleged to keep their bodies and their language clean was going to be more effective when it came time to be disciplined. Finally, as the namesake of the ships was his Goddess, and the women that he had feelings for, he did not want the crew to marr her name in anyway.

The Trial's Resolution

The mighty adventuring group, "Kilink" walked back out to the table with 6 seats, while the scribes walked back to their table and Justiciar Kevan walked up to the pulpit. As they all re-enter the room, the crowd begins whispering very loudly. Surprisingly, their loud whispering is louder than the multitude of conversations that were happening before the group entered.

The Justiciar flicks his wrist, and the loud, low bell that rang to begin the proceedings again brings a hush to the attending crowd. He begins speaking in his shrill voice, "People of Baldur's Gate, I present to you these 5 bold adventurers, who have proven to me that not only were the deaths they caused yesterday at the party self-defense, but they were for the greater good of our beloved city. A great evil has befallen us, and they have reason to suspect that sorcery caused the earthquake and tsunami that befell our city some 12 days ago.

These 5 have volunteered to seek out the cause of this foul treachery and destroy it wherever and whatever it is. They will take the 'Sea Star,' heretofore renamed the 'Lady Narath', and will not rest until this evil has been held accountable."

Looking at the adventurers, Kevan said, quietly, "Please, let our faith in you not be in vain." Resuming his speech, he continued, "They are in need of crew for their vessel, and if you would like to accompany them, please find Sergeant-at-Arms Beranhond. They may also need help with supplies and repairs on their vessel. If you are able to spare a hand, the city would be in your debt." As he spoke, his voice became more and more excited and twittery, and this last sentence sounded more like a bird chirping than a distinguished official making a proclamation.

The people in the courtroom didn't seem to mind, though, and burst into loud cheers.

You have all achieved another milestone. Please level up to level 4.

Trial!

Here is a wave to use for the trial, so we can do this real-time. If you are having problems reading or posting in this wave, it might help to go to wave.google.com to view it.

Time of Trial

Darvin walked into the room of the courthouse to find his friends standing around looking at Talathel who was bound in chains. Darvin looked at the people in the room and noticed a very pretty elf maiden who was looking longingly at Talathel. Darvin figured it out pretty quickly.

"Guards didn't like watching you fuck, eh?" Darvin said to Talathel. Everyone in the group turned to look at him. He winked at Nym.

"Now lets get this trial started."

"We were seduced by the glamor of it all"

The rattle of chains temporarily filled the room as Talathel entered. His friends turned around, and not being bound themselves, politely asked with their expressions what was going on.

"Hi," said Talathel.

"Were you in the dungeon?" asked Moran. Talathel could sense that Nym would soon be asking a hundred follow up questions, so he answered the first quickly.

"Ah...yes. The guards did not like how I spent my free time."

A raised eyebrow from one of Nym's handlers prompted further discussion.

"Well, I didn't do anything illegal. Its just that, apparently, conjugal visits don't begin until after they sentence you." Colin could only roll is eyes.

'Talathel!" came a voice from behind the imprisoned elf. He turned his head to see, but he already knew who it was.

"Everybody, this is Lailsan." Another raised eyebrow from a guard.

"To answer your question, yes, they had sex." Colin said.

"He's not half bad," said Sabry. An awkward silence came over the crowd. "Well, they did invoke Lastai!"

Any minute now...

As Beranhond entered the room he saw that Nym had already arrived.
"Nym, how was your day? Meet the newest disciples of Narath." He said as his two companions entered the room in their white robes.

Trial and Tribblations

As the day wears on, it Carlinya begins to think of her half-elf charge as a little sister and feels particularly protective of her. Carlinya asks Nym if she's ever been fishing, and Nym gets quite excited at this prospect. "Oh, yes! While I was working on the Sea Star, before they decided they wanted to kill me of course, we fished all the time! I tended to catch squid for some reason. It was kind of strange. Gibbons, the cook, loved it when I'd catch them, though, and he'd cook them up! I really...." Carlinya laughed saying, "Well, I have some fishing rods at home if you'd like to have a bit of fun and maybe catch our dinner." Nym nodded excitedly, and Moran groaned. "Can't we just guard her? This is the stupidest task I've ever been given. Like she needs two guards..." He grumbled under his breath.

The three fished for a few hours before Nym got distracted and started collecting sea shells. Carlinya continued to fish contentedly, but Moran watched Nym like she was some sort of dangerous animal. "Shouldn't we watch her more closely?" said Moran, annoyed. Carlinya ignored him. Nym had wandered about 40 feet off and was watching fish in a tidal pool, which made Moran uncomfortable. After a bit, Nym grew tired of the silver fish darting around the pool and trotted back to her guards. "We have enough fish for a nice dinner." Said Carlinya, smiling. Nym smiled back and began looking at the fish and asking what types they were. Carlinya patiently answered Nym's questions as she picked up their fishing supplies. Moran glared at Nym.

Carlinya led the group back to her place, where they skinned and filleted the fish. She showed Nym how to slice the fish and left her to it while she cut some vegetables. "You shouldn't let her have a knife." Said Moran, exasperated. Again Carlinya ignored him. She'd decided long ago that Nym was generally harmless and a sweet girl who must have simply stumbled into some trouble through no fault of her own. "How long did you sail with the Sea Star?" asked Carlinya. "A few months only," replied Nym. "I traded work as a cabin boy for passage to Waterdeep. I learned some about the riggings and sails and such, but not too much. Have you ever worked on a ship?" Carlinya smiled and responded, "Yes, actually. My father was a sailor, and I worked on his ship from the time I could walk until just two years ago when he died. I miss the sea."

As the sun began to set, Carlinya and Moran led Nym to the courthouse. Moran left after they entered the building to inform the court that one of the city heroes had arrived for the trial. Carlinya let Nym to where her friends were waiting. Nym waved at them excitedly. She still hadn't really processed that they were on trial for murder and may be thrown in jail or executed. Carlinya stopped Nym 20 feet away from her friends and bent down to whisper in the half-elf's ear, "Don't worry little sister. I won't let them throw you in a dungeon to rot. Be brave little one." She hugged Nym, and turned to leave as Nym hopped toward her friends excitedly.

Darvin's Last Day of Freedom

Darvin was in such a foul mood and had been so distracted by the fight, Nym and getting arrested that he completely forgot about the ring on his finger.

"Andrew you say? Well, Andrew, I'm pissed off as all hell. I'm about to spend the rest of my days rotting in a dungeon below this Godforsaken city. Quite frankly, I'm not sure there is any advice that will help, but sure go ahead give me your thoughts."

One Ring to Bring Them All...

As Darvin sat at the table in the inn, the ring decided to make itself known once again.

"Be ye wantin' me help here, then? Ye handled yerself well in that fight, laddie, an' I was cheerin' fer ye wi' yer wee lassie. If ye be wantin' any advice from me, I'd be glad to offer it. An' I think ye've earned me name, now too. Ye may call me Andrew. Andrew Kidd."

Colin and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day

"I do not know them, Talathel. I have heard of their names only this morning, first from the other guards this morning, and now from you," Colin said, not giving the elf much thought.
"I think you'd like them a lot. You'd really be into them," Talathel replied, knowing that the meaning of his words would go over Colin's head.
Talathel led his two guards through the city. They did not appear to be very bright, so he did little to engage them in conversation.  Talathel wandered the streets without purpose until it was near noon time. Then he found his way back to Lailsan's place. Sure enough, she was outside. The elf maiden was tending to a flower box. Talathel was not surprised to see the plants in full bloom.
"Good morning..." Talathel said. He had not expected to see Lailsan so soon, but he was glad that he had. She turned around and her eyes lit up.
"Talathel!" She looked at Collin and Sabry. "Who are these people with you?"
"Its a funny story. As it would turn out, self defense is illegal in Baldur's Gate and I have been arrested for my actions last night."
Lailsan let her mouth drop in shock. "Talathel! That is terrible! From what you described, you are innocent of any charges!"
"Yeah, I know."

Lailsan grabbed Talathel's hand.
"I'm going to borrow him for awhile," she said.
"Madam, I cannot allow Talathel out of my sight."

Lailsan shrugged and led Talathel into the building. The guards closely followed as the two elves passionately kiss. Through luck and determination, Lailsan opens the door to her place and pushes Talathel inside. "Please stop!" Collin protests, but clothes are already on the floor. The elves find themselves reliving last night, as the two guards watch on in disbelief.
1. Sexual Prowess Talathel. Talathel pushes Lailsan onto the bed and lies on top of her. The two elves fumble a bit, but finally find their way to one another. Talathel, thinking only of the moment, begins gently, getting a rise out of Lailsan. She gasps ever so slightly. Her hips begin to return the favor. Lailsan is more aware of the two guards in the room, so she is a bit more hesitant than she was the previous night, but Talathel does not seem to mind.

Talathel speeds up ever so slightly, finding a rhythm inside of Lailsan. Their eyes lock for a moment, before she closes her eyes in ecstasy. Talathel allows his left hand to wander over Lailsan's breasts. She reaches up and kisses him, giving him approval to continue. Her hands, which had been holding Talathel's neck felt down his back. She traced, perhaps unknowingly, an old elven symbol for fertility on her partner's back.

While she had tried to be discreet in her vocalizations before, due to the visitors in her room, Lailsan could not hold back any longer. She achieved her release and gave a loud moan. Lailsan smiled sheepishly.
"She might arrive if I were on top..." The two elves rolled over the other, adjusting angles and positions until Talathel lay flat on his back.

"Please, take me with you." Lailsan asked, almost pleading as the two lie in bed. Talathel was about to answer when he was interrupted.
"He will be going nowhere but the city dungeon until his trial begins," Colin said without much authority. "Those are not the orders," Sabry retorted. "It matters not. This elf will make a mockery of Baldur's Gate this entire day. For the city's protection, I find it necessary to detain him until our magnificent courts render their decision."
"I guess that means I have to go..." Talathel said, not trying to conceal his disappointment.
"I will go to the court this evening and wait for you. I will pray for your quick release," Lailsan said. She did not like the reminder that she had been watched. Talathel got out of the bed and put on his clothes.
"Lead on," Talathel said Colin. The three made their way to the door where the elf stopped and turned back towards the bed. "My friends will all be there tonight. You can meet them. We'll decide if it our fate to continue along the same path then. Until then, you have given me the strength to survive this day. I hope that I have done the same for you." Lailsan gave a nervous smile. She knew how corrupt and unjust the courts could be. She looked into Talathel's eyes, burning that image into her mind just in case she would never cross paths with him again.
And in a moment to soon, the room was empty, leaving Lailsan to her self. She laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. A tear rolled down her cheek.

Beranhond's day of super duper fun! (with corrections made).

Beranhond took them down the street to one of the nicer outside cafes in town. It was rare that Beranhond met anyone as tall as him, and even more rare to find someone taller then him. The crowds ran out of hteir way as they walked and many fingers pointed at him and he heard whispers of 'holy healer' and 'prophet.'
The head waiter gave them the nicest table in the restaurant and hurried off to get complimentary appetizers.
He smiled at them as he sat down.

They frowned back.
Well, if I am to be the first prophet I might as well act like one.
"I am sorry about that - I unfortunately have a strong temper that I have yet to curb, I mean neither your God, nor this town any disrespect. Let's begin again. My name is Beranhond, I am originally from Tantras and trained with the Paladin's of Torm for most of my youth, could I have your names?" He said sticking out his hand.

"Rudant." The giant somberly said.
"Scorna, pleased to meet you." She took his hand. "You do seem much more pleasant now, and it is hard to be angry with you, my sister was one of the ones you healed in the crowd after the earthquake - she is alive because of you." Her large eyes locked onto him, and Beranhond felt a little uncomfortable.
"I am glad I could be of assistance, and I am really sorry that this situation befell us all!"

To his surprise the giant spoke up "you trained with the Paladins of Torm?"
"Yes, I trained with them until last year. I was just about to take the final trial when I received my vision and was told to come here."
Rudant smiled broadly, "my brother wanted to be a Paladin, always dreamed of it." The waiter came by and set glasses of wine in front of them.
"Did he make it in?"
"No, he, he, was taken by the wererats." He said silently. The air froze about them.
"Then his death was avenged! Let us drink to your brother's life, your sister's future, and to this cities prosperity!" Beranhond said in a zealous tone, they all smiled at him and raised their glasses clinking them in the morning sun.

They ate a hearty meal and listened to Beranhond's description of his training at the Citadel, of the omens of the Dark God, and of his time underneath the city. Oddly, Rudant, who seemed like a brute of a person, opened up quicker than Scorna. However, Scorna said more with her eyes than with her mouth for most of breakfast. He had tried to limit any mention of Narath, but Scorna finally brought her up. Beranhond, filled with prophetic zeal, wound up telling them both about her beauty, her warmth, her kindness, and even her oddities, he was about to tell more when he was interrupted.
"I heard your sermon yesterday..." Rudant said. "I was touched."
Beranhond smiled "I... didn't quite intend for that to happen, but thank you for saying so."
Scorna chuckled "it sounds more like you are talking about a girlfriend than a Goddess." She slapped him on the shoulder. "You aren't seeing anyone are you?" Her eyes twinkling.
Fortunately, Beranhond was rescued by the waiter. Beranhond paid, and they departed. He decided to go and check up on the temple. When he arrived the structure's foundation had been rebuilt and a formal cemetery had been made for the dead priests. The living priests from Waterdeep rushed on over and greeted him. When he explained the circumstances the priests all shook their head.
"It is unfortunate when religion and politics meet, but know that Lathander bears neither you nor Narath any ill-will." They said bowing.
"Thank you, holy brethren." Beranhond said bowing to them in turn.
"You buried everyone of these priests?" Scorna asked.
"Yes, the end of life is a tragic thing and its passing is irreplaceable, thus I did what I could for them."
"That was very noble of you... holy one." Said Rudant.

He then took them up to the wall of the city and found a place looking out the sea. Rudant and Scorn sat near him, no longer an escort, but more friends. He took out a ring and started to craft it into a spell. The three of them discussed life, philosophy, and how to find meaning in a world gone mad. Rudant's emotionless face had started to change. Beranhond, seeing this, set aside the ring and turned towards him.
"Take my hand, my friend." Beranhond reached out his hand.

"I saw her too..."
The three of them spent the rest of the day on the wall overlooking the water. They talked of many things, of their pasts, their future. Before they left Rudant turned to Scorna.
"Can I talk to you in private?" She nodded and they walked a little way down the wall.
"I have had a hard time saying what I feel for a long time... but I think now is a good chance for me to say that I care for you deeply. I... might not be the most articulate person, but perhaps we could see each other more."
Beranhond smiled and looked out into the sunset, but privately started wondering why his life seemed like a romance novel whenever he was left alone.
Scorna smiled back at him, "Perhaps this is something we can discuss." She embraced him.

When dusk was near at hand the three made their way to their destination - Rudant and Scorna flanking them in their white robes. Tigrisclawu bounded out of the shadows and onto his shoulder.
"I thought you didn't want to convert people or be a big-time prophet."
"Shutup... where have you been?"
"Hunting rats - word is that you caused quite a commotion this morning."
"Yeah, my temper got the better of me."
"Imagine that."
They walked into the judicial office.

Ooo! Free Friends!

Nym walks away with Carlinya and Moran. Carlinya is about 5'10" tall, with shorter blonde hair and a pierced lip and ears. She smiles as she is led away. Moran is 5'9" tall, with broader shoulders and somewhat small hands for the size of his arms.

Talking the whole way, Nym leads Carlinya and Moran to the stables to see Nesme. Nesme snorts her greeting and shakes her head. Nym pulls an apple out from a pouch and Moran readies himself for attack. Nym looks at him surprised and Carlinya rolls her eyes at him. "Does she really look that threatening to you? She's just a girl." Carlinya says to him, pushing his sword away annoyed. Moran looks embarrassed as he sheathes his weapon. Nym feeds Nesme the apple.

Nym spends the day wandering around the city with Carlinya and Moran in tow, enjoying having a captive audience to tell her stories to. She fills them in on her entire journey from the High Forest and shows them her sticks and rocks she's collected along the way. Carlinya seems more than happy to listen to Nym's incessant talking while Moran seems bored with such a simple charge.

Driving Away from the Wreck of the Day

As soon as Gurkirat seated himself, 6 city guards entered the inn, leading a single woman wearing the ceremonial tunic, overshirt, hat, and breeches of the scribes of Baldur's Gate. The group walked in, looked around for a second, and walked past three other tables in as straight a line as they could to the table the adventurers were seated at.

As the guards walked, the adventurers noted that these were slightly more polished than the ordinary guards that had been in attendance at the celebration the day before. Their armor was shinier, their cloaks better maintained, and they walked with a poise that belied their experience and confidence. Their were 4 men and 2 women in the guards, and as the arrived at the table, they spread out in a half-circle focused on the table. The scribe walked through a small gap in the middle of the circle, which widened only momentarily for her to pass, and stood at the head of the table. Her green eyes sharply addressed each face, capturing the attention of each person in turn before she began to speak in a high, clear voice.

"Ethelred Beranhond, Nym, Darvin Amblecrown, Gurkirat Kaleo, and Talathel Braegan. By order of the city council, you are all hereby under arrest. Please come with me quietly and peacefully. You will not be harmed if you do as I say."

Baubles, Bangles, and Beads

Despite the opportunity for some ship-side romance, Nym was preoccupied with going below deck and collecting some of her belongings she had hidden. She collected a small wooden box, the contents of which she was particularly protective of, some various herbs and medicines she'd collected during her journeys, a well-worn card game, a small bundle of twigs of various types, a small sack with colorful rocks, a rather voluptuous and worn female rock figure, and a little doll. She shows them all to Darvin like an excited child and then disappears into the night.

Knowing no one was after her any longer, she collects her things and heads to the occupied portion of town. Knowing only of the inn Beranhond was staying, she leads Nesme to the stables and buys a room there for the night. Not afraid for her life for the first time in many days, she sleeps soundly. In the morning, she skips downstairs to have some breakfast and to examine more closely her re-aquired box from the ship.

Then the Morning Comes

Follow the Pretty Girl

Finally the battle had ended. And Darvin stood there soaked in the water of the River Chionthar, his own sweat and the blood of his enemies. It had been an exhausting battle. It seemed that men were always coming from somewhere new. The half-elf had fought gallantly and killed three men by his own sword, including the captain of the Sea Star. Nym had immediately headed in the direction of the ship, which now had no crew and sat idly in the harbor. Without much thought, Darvin followed her, but as he got close he started to come out of his daze and notice the ship. It was big, it had suffered damage, a rather large amount in fact, but it was available. And to Darvin, it being available is what mattered most.

He thought about what their little group could do with a ship: the places they could go, the world they would see, the adventures they would have. At this moment Darvin noticed Nym scrambling up the gang plank and he hurried to join her on the deck. As he walked onto the ship he saw Nym standing at the rail on the far side staring into the water. He slowly walked towards her.

"Darvin..." She said as he came up behind her.

"Yes?" He half asked.

"Thank you for dancing with me. No one has ever asked me to dance before, at least no one I wanted to ask me anyway. There was this one time..." Nym was about to break into one of her tangents and Darvin knew it. This however was not the time for a tangent. The way the moon reflected off the water and onto Nym made her more beautiful than ever. And if Darvin hadn't fallen for her in the weeks leading up to the party, he definitely had now.

"You're welcome. It was my absolute pleasure." Darvin said as he wrapped his arms around her from behind.

A Wrinkle in Time, or something to that effect

And now, we re-edit this post for it to fit within the timeline.

It had not been long after the half-orc captain had fallen that Talathel decided that he was finished fighting for the night. He was weary from battle and the celebration of his group's current victory did little to replenish his spirits. Not wanting to draw attention to himself, Talathel slipped away from the crowd, unannounced. He stopped to shake hands with a few party-goers as he made his exit, but otherwise he was able to sneak out without incident.

Talathel headed into town, searching for a place to drink and find some good conversation. He wanted to avoid the Bait and Tackle, mostly because he assumed that Tobi would not like to see him. He decided to find some other place. He worked his way down some back alleys, around a few corners, and found a pub named Millways. It looked a little bit shady, but the elf simply shrugged.

"Its not as if I'll see the universe end or anything like that," he said as he pushed his way through the door.

Millways was dimly lit, seemingly the only light coming from the candles on the tables. There was a decent number of people in the bar, but it was nowhere near full. A half-orc bouncer grunted at Talathel.

"No weapons," the half-orc said, pointing at the kama. Talatheel shrugged, took out the kama and handed it to the beast. It doesn't hit anything anyways. Talathel, never one to hold his tongue, looked up at the half-orc. "Two words! I have never heard of a half-orc saying two words without stuttering before! It was almost a complete sentence! Have you considered a career in public speaking? You could inspire a lot of half-orcs." Luckily for Talathel, the half-orc actually took this as a compliment and handed the kama back in some sort of gesture of gratitude.

Talathel took up a seat at the bar. No one at the bar greeted him, nor did they notice his silver kama. He felt loved.

"What are you having?" the bartender asked. Talathel looked up and was pleasantly surprised. He had suspected that the bartender in a dark, shady place such as Millways would be a human (or worse, a half-elf) male who poured a sloppy ale and didn't know his bourbon from his rum.

Instead, it was a gorgeous, fair-skinned, blonde, female elf. She had deep green eyes, a bright smile, and what could only be described as a great body. Talathel bravely stared at her.

"What are you having?" she asked again. Talathel could have sworn she sounded like an angel.

"Well, that depends..." he said, trying to collect himself. "What are you having?"

"The rum he is delicious, as are a few other things behind the bar." She said, coyly. Before Talathel could say anything, there was a mug of rum in front of him. "You seem like a good elf. First one's on me."

Talathel was officially in love. "My name is Lailsan Therranya." Talathel figured that the name thing was important when falling love, so he gave his. "Talathel Braegen. I'm sure you get this a lot, but I'm an adventurer." Lailsan smiled, and seemed intrigued.

Over the course of the evening, Talathel recounted his meeting of Darvin "He's a good kid, talks a big game, likes pirates." the trip to Baldur's Gate ("I was incredibly braved and helped guide the ship into the port.") and even the trip into the sewers ("and then, with Darvin lying helplessly on the ground, I plunged my kama into her stomach") He recounted the previous battle, indicating that is why his clothes appeared tattered. "That poor girl, Nym" Lailsan said sympathetically.  "Worry not, I'm sure that Darvin is taking good care of her."Talathel may have embellished the actual actions, but Lailsan seemed to buy it. Just as important, she was intrigued by the stories and kept the rum flowing. She would occasionally have to tend to other other customers, but would always come back with more rum, not only for Talathel but also for herself.

Lailsan was a native of Baldur's Gate, and she traded some stories with Talathel. She wanted to travel but could afford to do so. She had had some relationships, but not many. She mostly just worked at Millways and wrote poetry. Talathel was officially smitten. Apparently so was Lailsan, as she continued to talk to Talathel long after the other customers at Millways had gone back into the night. Even the half-orc had grunted his goodnight. After a few more rounds of rum, Lailsan suggested they go home.

"I haven't paid for any of my drinks." Talathel casually mentioned.

"I accept more than gold," Lailsan said, grabbing his hand.

She lived in a small apartment a few blocks away from Millways. it was dark inside, but they managed to find their way to each other. Though he had spent many years at the monastery and not felt the touch of a woman during that time, he was not without experience and found his rhythm. Lailsan grunted and moaned her approval. They carried on through the evening until they simply could not go any more and fell asleep on, by some sort of luck, her bed.

The next morning, Talathel awoke and took a moment to find his bearings. He happily reconstructed the night in his mind, and glanced over at Lailsan, still asleep. He kissed her forehead to waken her.

"Thank you," she managed to say, still very tired. Talathel gave a slight laugh. "I don't usually do that, but I figured with you being a hero and all..."

Talathel nodded, he understood. "Can I go with you?" she asked, and Talathel was taken back. An awkward silence filled the air. "Wherever you go next, I mean."

"I...maybe?" Talathel did not even know where "next" was, let alone if there was room for one more. Lailsan looked at him confused and hurt.

"Look, Lailsan, I don't know where we're going yet..."

"Isn't that the point of being an adventurer?"

"Well, yes, I suppose. But, I mean, I have to decide where that is. I might stick with Darvin for awhile. I wish I could just say yes, but there's much to consider before making a decision."

Lailsan pouted a bit, but she understood. "Figure out where you're going and find me. I'll be at Millways."

Talathel smiled. "I will. I like that place. The rum was good, and the service was top notch.."The two elves playfully wrestled.

"You liked last night?" Lailsan asked, already knowing the answer.

"I'd go to the end of the universe to experience it again."

How Prophets are Born.

After thirty minutes Ethelred Beranhond, the first Prophet of Narath, made a mistake. He drank alcohol. Plenty of it. At first he was enjoying himself, as the alcohol relaxed him, but after an hour he stood onto the table, called much of the crowd to him and revealed onto the growing audience the first book of revelation.

"Can the principle of selection, which we have seen is so potent in the hands of man, apply in nature? I think we shall see that it can act most effectually. Let it be borne in mind in what an endless number of strange peculiarities our domestic productions, and, in a lesser degree, those under nature, vary; and how strong the hereditary tendency is. Under domestication, it may be truly said that the, whole organisation becomes in some degree plastic. Let it be borne in mind how infinitely complex and close-fitting are the mutual relations of all organic beings to each other and to their physical conditions of life."
He spoke passionately - at least with the passion of a drunk prophet who had madeout with his divinity. After spreading the gospel of evolution, he moved onto reciting much of his past learning, as well as some of his new theories. "All mankind... being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions." He continued for another hour, reciting and citing, calling forth to the masses and finally stating "When you can't find truth, find love. When you can't find love, at least find yourself and find meaning onto that end."
Then, deciding to wow the crowd with his power, he raised his hands and healed the masses. HIs hands glowed blue and light cascaded over the crowd and through the party, touching all those listening and others.

He dropped to his knees, then fell onto his back. As he drifted into slumber, he heard Narath speak to him "You really shouldn't drink Eth..."
"No... I shouldn't..."
Tigrisclawu bounded onto him, purred and said, "you fool... I thought you weren't going to do that sort of thing."
"Shutup..." and his eyes shut and he went to sleep. Scriptus and Codex, who had been listening with wrapped attention, lifted him onto their shoulders and carried him off to his Inn room.

Can't Wait for Adventure

Nym listens to Beranhond patiently, nodding as though she will in fact wait to go to the ship. As soon as Beranhond disappears into the crowd, Nym turns to the ship and gestures for Darvin and Gurkirat to follow, smiling. On shore near she ship she sees the makeshift pyre meant for her death. "Well that's grim... Good thing they didn't get me this far!" She said, smiling. She then turned to the ship, which obviously took heavy damage in the tsunami. Nym listens for any sign of life on the ship and examines the gangway for traps. Seeing and hearing nothing, she sneaks onto the ship and beckons her friends to follow.

What happens when Beranhond gets free time.

"That might not be a bad idea." Beranhond said looking at Nym; however, by the time he had turned around Talathel was already gone.
"Perhaps in the morning? I think it might be best to enjoy the rest of this party and to calm down the crowd. Plus, there is plenty of beverage and food remaining."
Beranhond turned and called towards the city guards who had hidden in the crowd during the fight.
"Guards, come assist in carrying your fallen brethren; honor their bravery and reflect on your shame." He tried to disguise the disgust he had - Baldur's Gate had been through a lot in the last month, but there was no excuse for failing to do your job. As they came close he knelt down and checked their pulse. Feeling none he closed the eye lids and said the few words he had memorized for death.
"In hopes that your life had full of promise, and that your death filled with peace. I send you off to the embrace of the God of your choosing." When he finished his compatriots picked up his body and carried it away. Sanitation workers took a hold of the bodies of the crew and carried them off. To where, Beranhond did not want to know.

He went and rejoined the crowd, which had started picking up some of its old noise and sound. These were a hardy people, having survived the devastation of the Tsunami, and even a conflict on the river couldn't shake their love of partying. He grabbed a seat and took some juice, in moments his pals Scriptus and Codex ran up to him.
"Holy Beranhond? we have a favor to ask you."
"Don't call me holy guys... please, just Beranhond, and of course, whatever I can do."
"Well," Scriptus started to say. "We were thinking alot during that battle, and we decided that the time is right."
"The time?" Beranhond looked down and noticed that they were wearing matching rings. "You are engaged? Congratulations!"
"We were hoping you would conduct the wedding..." They looked at him nervously.
"But of course friends! It would be a great honor." He said smiling broadly at them. They spent the next ten minutes talking over some details before the two ran off. He sat back down, hoping for a few minutes of quiet to relax.
He watched as the dancing continued, and started thinking back on the weirdness of the day when he felt someone tap his shoulder. He set his drink down and turned around. Before him stood Narath, but unlike before, she wasn't beaming, glowing, or dressed strangely. She must have taken a look at mortal fashion before heading on down to Earth.
"Would you dance with me?"
Beranhond swallowed, hoping his boots of acrobatics would help him dance. "Of course... do Goddesses know how to dance well?" He got to his feet and put out his hand.
"Oh exceedingly, but I won't judge you." She said smiling, sliding her hand into his.
They moved out onto the dance area, and the minstrels changed songs mid-tune from a Gavotte to an air. As he put his arms around to the small of her back, and took her hand in his, he took a deep breath and hoped that little amount of dancing he knew would come back to him:

As they danced around, he smiled and looked at her eyes. There was always a depth to them that was unnerving, plus they changed colors, which was also unnerving. However, he felt comfortable, and started smiling as the dancing became easier.
"Do you still care for her?" She said looking at him quizzically. He smiled, and spoke truthfully
"That was long ago, and though I loved her once - she and I could never have worked out." He paused speaking, then started again "I will always care for her for what she was, and for the feelings I once had. But now she is simply a good friend who I have long since lost." His heart fluttered, "my feelings have moved onto another."
She seemed satisfied momentarily and leaned her head against his shoulder. At the end of the song she pulled of his shoulder, put her arms around his head and pulled his lips towards hers. As they touched his arms went around hers, pulling him into her. The sounds of the world faded away from around them for an eternity, before she let go, and took his hands in hers and led him quickly off the dance floor and towards a more private section of the party. Once there she pulled him down to her again and greedily kissed him.
"Eth... I know this is going to kill the mood, but I must go now."
He swallowed "of course..." but before he could answer, she kissed him again. Her hands moved through his hair, while he put his hands on her hips and pulled her into him.
After a moment, she let go, and said "keep your face shaven, and make sure to keep an eye on any oddities..."
"Of course." With that she smiled, and stepped backwards, and then with a bright flash disappeared.

Beranhond went back to the party and found an empty seat and sat there. The festivities continuing around him.

Till the Morning Comes.

(Showing off by texting from my phone) All: Talathel is sneaking off to Millways. Please find something to get to the next morning (game time). Thanks.

A Ship!

Nym noticed suddenly the crowd of party goers who had watched the attempted abduction and battle in confusion. For a moment, she stood nervously looking over the group of onlookers, feeling particularly self-conscious in her soaked dress that was now also covered with dirt and blood. She turned to look at the water, and the Sea Star caught her eye. What a perfect way out of this mess! She thought. "Let's check out the ship!" She said excitedly to her friends as she started toward it. "I could give you a tour. I think the Captain's Cabin is particularly nice..."
Well done. You've killed your first barbarian. :)

Ding Dong the Captain's Dead

Beranhond watched as Darvin stabbed the captain through the chest and then the groin. As the large, ugly, and sad-looking half-orc hit the grown he felt compassion for someone whose life, and personality, had been so underdeveloped.
"It is done." Beranhond turned, for he knew that Darvin was taking out his blades and chopping off the head. It was Darvin's rather odd way of finishing a battle.
