Awakening, Burning, A Chair, Distress, an Elf, and a Fire. Good Heavens!

Upon hearing the conversation down the hall, the maid walked down the hallway to check on things. It appears our guests have returned, she thought to herself. As she neared that end of the hall, though, she caught the scent of the lingering remnants of the noxious fumes from the experiment that Gurkirat had attempted.

Apprehensive, she slowly opened the door to the meeting room. The fumes had mostly dissipated by now, but the smell still permeated the room. She scanned the room, trying to find the source of the stench, and saw the gnome passed out by the charred remnants of a chair.

Frightened that he might be dead, she ran in and started shaking him. "Sir, are you alright? Please, sir, wake up! What have you been doing? You've ruined Master Hring's fine chair! Oh lordy! Please wake up!" She was getting more and more frantic, until Gurkirat started shifting and arousing from his unconscious state.
