Riddles...?

Walking closer Beranhond searches his magical training for any memory of such an object.

(arcana):

Roll(1d20)+6:
12,+6
Total:18

Beranhond has heard descriptions of magical boxes similar to this before, but has never seen one. All he has heard is that they are extremely useful to have, spellcaster or not, and that they are pretty rare. Also, it seems that every one he'd heard of had different properties, and from the rumors, it was unclear if that was because the people spreading them were telling tales or because they truly were all different.

  1. Also, you can use a spellcraft check on it, too. The Knowledge (arcana) will tell you what knowledge you might have of an item from prior experience. The Spellcraft check lets you simply identify what properties an item has. That may be more or less useful, depending on the circumstance. Your choice.

  2. Actually, you're supposed to use the spell "Detect Magic" to make use of spellcraft in this way. So if you don't have it prepared, you could always pray for the spell in the morning and find out all there is to know about the magic morphing box in the morning.

  3. I figured that was the case... that is why I wound up just using the arcana check.

  4. I have told Grumbleshanks that in order to make the rules not get in the way of the roleplaying, I will allow him to replace a spell he has not used yet with another spell, given that he prays for spells again, so if you would like to go off and ask Narath to replace one of your spells with Detect Magic, you can. I don't believe you've actually used any magic yet.
