The Gnomes Shall Pass

Darvin let a smile creep across his face as he watched Nym jump and dance excitedly in front of him. It reminded him of a toddler that had to go to the bathroom.

"Nym, my dear, gorgeous, Admiral," Darvin winked. "We can't stop every ship we see while we're out on the open ocean. And no doubt these gnomes have very important business to attend too. However, we can still exchange pleasantries as we pass them."

Darvin walked over to the port side of the aft castle and waved at the passing ship.

"Ahoy there! Where are you headed!?" Darvin shouted to the other ship. He did this for two reasons, 1) to appease Nym, he did still have feelings for her after all, even though they hadn't much time for that sort of thing lately and 2) if these gnomes were headed to Baldur's Gate it was best that they knew about the tsunami and earthquake.

Everyone on the Lady Narath waited for a response.

  1. A gnome with a very garish coat and a tricorner hat walked to the port side of the gnome's ship, and returned the greeting. "Ahoy! We are returning to Lanthan by way of the Moonshae Isles and the Nelanther Isles. Where are you headed?"

  2. "Where ARE we headed?" Talathel asked himself. If it had been stated before, the elf had forgotten. He had not been himself the past few days...

  3. Beranhond's got it in his head that Waterdeep's the place to be. I blame it on his lost love. She's apparently out fighting for the good of all in the wilderness around the city.

  4. He suggested Waterdeep because of all the fighting going on around there. Of course, if a more interesting place comes up we don't have to go to Waterdeep.

  5. "We are headed to Waterdeep!" Shouted Darvin. The two crews waved to each other as the ships passed and each continued along their way.

Dan, the gnome would have to be on the starboard side of his ship, otherwise he would be shouting at the open ocean.

  6. No, if he's on the port side of his ship, he's yelling at your ship. His perspective is that you are to his port, just as from your perspective, he's to your port. :) Gotta love frame of reference. :D

  7. Well, that was a productive encounter...

  8. Yup. We need to come up with a system so that you don't waste 2 days on every random ship that passes. I'll try to come up with something and post it by Monday.

  9. Are there any specific things you would be looking for before you stopped a ship or attacked or anything?

  10. Well, I suspect that we would avoid combat at this point so I would be surprised if we tried to attack any ships.

Maybe ships that would be flying the flags of waterdeep, lathander or torm, or any ships that seem to be damaged, on fire, or such. That at least is my take on some of what we might be interested in.
