Trials and Tribulations

Ok, to speed this up I am just going to let you know Dohn told you:

He can train Talathel so that he can pretend to be a monk and sneak inside. He also has the proper robes that won't cause any suspicion.

The dream gate is near the top, and is only a few floors above the crystal that both the elves and him have requested you destroy.

Be extremely careful and keep your wits about you. The tower is essentially a training ground for illusions so it is easy to lose your head.

He drew up a general map (that is forthcoming) with the routes that are most likely the safest. Of course, his information is a tad old so he apologizes for that.

Try to avoid combat with the shadowcasters - they have mostly been sending out novices to attack you in the last few incidents.

He has no idea who brought you to this world or why. Maybe that will be answered in the tower? (he then ate a donut).

There is no quick route to get there - it will take about a week overland (I shall skip over most of the boring events for you whenever you are ready.

Do let me know if there is any other information he could possibly provide.

It will take several days for Dohn to give all the training and information neccessary as well as to procure the proper forms and clothing and as such you are forced to enjoy the lovely city. On the second day a messenger arrived from the elven kingdom and told Illuvaen that someone has snatched the queen away. Illuvaen looked at his old friend in a dark and somber mood.
"It looks like the work of the Shadowcasters." Faelith said.
"Well, certainly odd that we are planning on going to their lair anyway." he looked thoughtful for a moment. "Almost too suspicious."
"The council is demanding that you return and take over leadership of the village." Faelith said urgently.
"No, I must see this task finished first. Tell them I hope to return with my mother." Faelith bowed and dashed out of the room.
"It is eerie how everything is coming to a head and all seemingly pointing to this tower." He paused "Where is that goblin anyway? In any case I suspect she will turn up when most needed. I am going to go out for a bit... I need to clear my head." He nodded politely to Darvin and Nym, as well as Pipper and Guybrush before stepping out of the door.

  1. "Well, Doehn, I suppose its time to learn how to act like a monk...again."

    "Again?" Doehn asked.

    "Long story."

    "Boring story," added Darvin.

    "Shut up, you weren't there.

  2. "Now, the monks might be evil, but that doesn't mean that they don't have standards or proper decorum." He said deciding to ignore the conversation between Darvin and Talathel. "The most important element of the monastery is that you help others... even in the midst of evil they believe in helping others. However, helping others means that they help others towards power and you help the powerful to maintain status."

  3. Nym was bored. She didn't know anything about the monks of this world or even what monks behave like, so she wasn't much help in Dohn's preparations. Not only that, but leaving the apartment wasn't a good idea if not necessary since everyone had been attacked by shadowcasters or shadowcaster informants when out in the city right after arriving.

Pipper was chewing a bone Dohn had given him and Nym was watching a spider make a web on the ceiling while laying on the floor. Nym sighed and glanced around the room. After deciding the spider was the most active occupant, she continued to watch it.

  4. I am driving off to attend a wedding in Wyoming so I won't be posting. We shall put it on hold until Sunday or so when I return.

  5. Nym had watched the spider for several days now and was convinced her brain was melting out of her ears.
