The morning after...

When the morning came, Nym found herself in a corner of the camp feeling stretched and sore. Pipper lay next to her crying.

Darvin, found himself underneath the large orcish woman. He struggled out and saw that the arena was a smoldering ruin. Beside him Khursid started to move, much of her body was covered in deep burns and scars, but after a moment she was able to stand and look out on the wreckage.
"I am impressed... whoever did this has a lot of power." She said to Darvin, or perhaps to no one in particular.

Talathel, Aelysin, Tigrisclawu, Beranhond and Lailsan are asleep on the edge of the camp. Beranhond acquired some scrapes and bruises, but the rest of them appeared none the worst for wear. As they looked out on the camp they saw that most of the camp is in ruins, tents fallen, and dead bodies laying on top of the wreckage. The stench of death is strong and several orcs are moving around collecting bodies and taking them to a large pyre.

"Narath have mercy..." Beranhond said quietly looking out at the carnage.

  1. As Darvin surveyed the scene, he saw Guybrush peeking around a small pile of what looked to have once been pots and pans, but was now little more than twisted metal. The monkey appeared in good health despite the wreckage all around him.

  2. Nym collected Pipper in her arms and began searching the camp for her companions. "What happened here?" she muttered to herself. Nesme appeared from behind a smoldering tent, and Nym was happy to find her faithful horse. Nesme waited patiently as Nym swung up on her back, and they continued their search slowly, picking their way through the wreckage.

  3. Death surrounded Nym. Most of the bodies were burned husks that were barely recongizeable. Some of the survivors were carrying the corpses to a pile. As she paused the survivors eyed her suspiciously as she looked far to clean to have been in a battle. As she rounded a corner she saw Greg lying faceup on the ground in a pool of blood. A large tentpole was sticking through his chest. As she drew closer she saw that his eyes were wide open and a look fright was locked on his face.

  4. Nym swung down from Nesme and closed the man's eyes. "Hopefully the others met with a better fate..." she thought as she climbed on Nesme.

  5. Talathel awoke after a troubling sleep. He surveyed the remains of the camp. He stood in silence alongside Beranhond for awhile.

"DO you even think there's anything we can do to help?"

  6. "I spent time last night trying to help... in general there were not many wounded. It seemed like they were either alive and generally healthy, or dead." He shook his head.
"Did you see Darvin or Nym at all?"

  7. Darvin stared at the wreckage around him. His head was pounding from the sucker punch that was landed on him the night before. He ignored Khursid's comment. Guybrush hopped over to him. Seeing the monkey relieved Darvin a little, "Boy, am I glad to see you. Have you seen the others?" Guybrush climbed up onto Darvin's shoulder, "Aye, captain, I have not." Darvin, Khursid and Guybrush started to walk through the camp hoping to find the others.

  9. Fire has burned much of the body; however, the face is clearly Thjodolf's.

  10. You guys killed Thjodolf! You bastards!

Darvin knelt down beside his friend and choked back his tears. Thjodolf's face had a look of agony and horror to compliment his lifeless stare. He had always been a loyal companion and Darvin had grown quite fond of him over the time they had spent together. The half-elf reached down and closed Thjodolf's eyes, "Rest well my friend." Two tear drops splashed onto the half-orc's face.

  11. Could I get perception rolls from Darvin and Nym?

  12. Talathel puts his hand on Darvin's shoulder. The elf does not speak, but tries to reassure his friend.

  13. Perception:15+7, 22

Nym looked down at Greg and then at her hands. With a start she noticed faint arcane etchings covering both hands. She pulled up a sleeve and found more. Nym closed her eyes in an attempt to blot out her headache to no avail. She continued to pick her way through the carnage, avoiding the tired-looking orcs taking care of the dead.

In the distance, Nym saw a group of what looked like non-orc folk, and in particular, she noticed a very tall human. "Beranhond," Nym thought, smiling. She was glad at least one of her friends was in good shape. She nudged Nesme into a trot toward the group and Pipper curled up in his saddlebag bed for a nap.
