Lazy day's aboard the Lady Narath

"Well, this is fun." Evelaen said staring off into the city. "This city is rather... ugly." She said to no one in particular. She let out a sigh and gazed across the squat gray buildings and ruined structures.
She turned around and paced back to the table where they had met last night. Spread across the table were a series of scrolls, sheets, and books. She brushed her a strand of her brown hair out of her face while looking for a particular scroll, before finally selecting a thick scroll that she had been composing for most of her journey out to the Baldur's Gate.
"Still enjoying that mediating?" She asked Talathel.

  1. Hearing no response from Talathel Evelaen rolled out the scroll and started scratching a few more notes about the journey.

  2. "It clears the head, it does me wonders. You might try it sometime," Talathel said. He picked up his staff and came over the Evelaen. "Is it just the two of us?" Talathel hoped there would not be much need for that, but still, it was not a big force to defend the ship, should the Syndicate try to seize it by force.

"Any reading recommendations? What are you hoping to find in these books?"

  3. "I used to meditate all the time when I was still married to Rikard. Now-a-days I usually help Beranhond with his audible prayers."
"It's just the two of us, but frankly, defending the ship through force of arms isn't likely to be a good long term strategy anyway."
"A third of these books are voyage logs Beranhond dragged up from his former, well, current office." She pointed toward a slender pile.
"Another third of these are awful erotic literature that Darvin had stashed around the vessel." She said geusturing to a large pile at the end of the desk.
"The last third are selections of various diaries and journal entries from the surrounding area. Beranhond and I have been trying to collect them to get an idea of the aftermath of the disaster."
She held up her scroll. "This is just my private chronicle of the journey. I've a bit of a literary mind and have fanciful ideas that this journey might make an interesting tale."

  4. "So, the captain likes the smutty stuff, eh? Not surprising, I guess. Always thought Darvin was a bit odd." Talathel sat down across from Evelean. "Do you mind if I take a look at some of the journals? Wouldn't know what to look for, but could be interesting."

  5. "Well, I don't have a problem with erotic literature - the stuff he had just isn't that 'good.'" She said handing him a stack of journal entries. "They're mostly depressing anecdotes about the rising darkness, but it's an interesting look at the impact of our enemy.

  6. Could Talathel roll a intelligence/wisdom/arcana check. Whichever you'd like to do some research.

  8. Talathel and Evelaen wound up spending most of the afternoon reading through journals.

    Talathel learns the following:

    1. In the immediate aftermath of the Paladin charge local parish priests find themselves unable to perform high level healing magic.
    2. Several Paladins who through of their mantle and tried to live in the local villages found themselves left only to their martial prowess. Prayers seemed empty.
    3. Local peasants suffered from increasingly deadly attacks by undead from the sea.

  10. Darvin, Johan, Nym, and Odin are meeting back at Odin's shop, not at the ship. Who'd want to meet in a stinky, dirty ship in bad need of repairs?

  11. Answer: Half elves who don't have a place to stay for the night and probably will end up giving all their money to pay the lien!

Are you planning to add anything more to Violet and Odin's discussion? If not, I'll delete my above post and move to meeting at the shop.

  12. They both went out and did their own searching, so I will add it when everyone gets back together. Feel free to head to the shop. I'd recommend a new post. You will be the first one back.

  15. Question: Did Violet leave her treasure hunting ideas at the shop? Specifically the missing child info?

  16. Question 2: Does Odin have a stable at his shop/home?

  17. Yes, Violet left the info about the missing child at the shop. It is in the stack of maps and other info that she brought with her to the ship. I can email you all the things that Nym finds on that stack if you choose to go digging, but it won't be until tonight.

Yes, Odin has a fully functional stable for when he's replacing horseshoes or working on saddle repairs. This is a fully functional sporting goods emporium, after all.
