Conference Table (22 months before finale)

Beranhond looked around the conference table aboard the Lady Narath and sighed. No one had really offered any good arguments for where else they should look for allies. "Alright folks, as I understand, we can go to the Druids of Moonshae, the Elves of Silverymoon, possibly some wizards near the sea of Stars or up north to the Barbarian ice pirates..." He paused trying to take in the ridiculousness of the statement. "I think we can split and recruit two of these groups that, along with Illuvaen's Elven warriors from the dream realm might be enough."

  1. "I would travel to Moonshae. It has been a long while since I've been to my home, but I may be best of assistance there."

  3. Darvin was not sure how he exactly ended up at a conference table on the Lady Narath. Although, he supposed there were worse places he could be.

"The naval capabilities of our foes are formidable. I believe we need allies who can help us break this blockade. I will go to seek assistance from the barbarian ice pirates. I do hope they have a better name for themselves."

  4. "So one to the west, one to the north..." Beranhond looked thoughtful. "I'll have to reflect on what might be our best tactic for allies that I could recruit." He pulled up the paper on which they he had been trackings recruits.
"Well, from my calculations we will have a repaired vessel, and money enough from Nym, and the treasure of Eel-Skin-Jack, to provide us funding to recruit a few more allies."
He looked at Darvin, "Incidentally, how did you manage to escape the wraiths following us?"

  5. "The story is both funny and rather uncomfortable," Darvin said, rather annoyed. He had really hoped he wasn't going to have to tell everyone about Mashy in the woods.

"Strange as it may seem, I ran into Mashy after getting lost in the woods. You remember Mashy. The awkward conversation in Silverymoon. We were there for Nym's ceremony with her friends..." Darvin looked at all the eyes staring at him around the table. They didn't look very amused.

"Anyway, she offered to get me back here and somehow she turned us into shadows or some such thing. She said we could even go explore a little bit. She even mentioned going to see Thjodolf. That seemed unlikely, so I passed on that and now here we are. Oh, and she did mention she could help us 'confront the impending evil' if we wanted. I just have to ask. So, yeah. That pretty much covers it."

Darvin lookes at all the disbelieving faces and then sat back in his chair.

  6. Beranhond opened his mouth and shut it a few times. Unsure of how to respond. "So, your exgirlfriend has magical powers..."
He turned to look at Nym and Johan, "What about you two - did you run across anything strange?"

  7. Sorry everyone. Lost track of update email and didn't realize it until this week.

Johan chuckled. "You could say that. Something...curious, and wanting to strike a bargain. Still waiting to see how things shake out to see if we'll want to take hm, or it, up on the suggested agreement."

He gestured towards the top of a nearby map. (On a wall or table?) "I'd much rather see if we can speak with some mages. The creature we encountered left me with some considerations I would like clarified, to see if Nym and myself should reconsider our answer to it."

He shrugged, turning to the rest of the group and grinning with slightly-lengthened teeth. "Of course, I'm not under a time frame for getting there, so I've no strong objections if anyone else has a burning desire to tangle with elves, druids, or barbarian pirates."

  8. My first post didn't actually post - my second one was deleted by King Arty. This third one won't be nearly so worried.
Beranhond looked over the map. "Time is running short for us - Ceilith, and the few remaining Tormish Paladins, are keeping an eye on the Dark Forces at Waterdeep and are concerned that we are at most two or three years away from their force being unstoppable." He stopped, looking over the map, before sighing. "We need allies - right now we have a city militia, a small contingent of, frankly, battered Paladins, a handful of Shaar who finally made it north... am I missing anyone?" He looked around and realized he was getting some odd looks.
"Sorry, I'm monologuing - it's been a long night." He rubbed his eyes. "but it's probably best that we split forces to visit both locations."
Beranhond turned to Johan, "The Mages should be able to provide heavy magical assistance to us." he then pursed his lips for a moment . "...and presumably answer your concerns."
"But, you're right as well Darvin - the ice pirates could provide naval support and some shock troops - so we need to visit them as well. I'm not sure which is the best way for us, as individuals, to travel, so I think you'll have to reflect on which path is the best. Fortunately, Violet was able to give us a set of sending scrolls so we can stay in contact. We've lost too many people over the years and I don't think we can afford to lose anymore - so be safe."
