Just outside of Baldur's Gate, at the southwest corner of the wall, stands one of the main gateways into the city. Since the walls were constructed, a small, thriving market has sprung up just outside the gates. As the second market of the city (and one outside the gates), this market, known as the Outsiders' Market, has earned a reputation for being able to find you anything you want, as long as you don't mind paying slightly more for it and don't care how it is obtained. Both legitimate businesses and those that tend to fade into the shadows when the city watch comes by may be found here, but the market in the city, known as the High Market, tends to have slightly better selection, and the better established businesses tend to have shops there, rather than in the Outsiders' Market.
Grumbleshanks and Gurkirat spent the night just outside the Outsiders' Market, able to see a bit of it, though not actually close enough for anyone setting up in the market in the morning to notice them.

ReplyDeleteThose statements seem at odds to me. Perhaps better quality at the High?
Well, they can find you anything you want in the Outsiders' Market, but they don't have it sitting out, and they'll get you only what you ask for. What they have out for purchase is pretty meager offerings, actually. The High Market has a great selection of high quality goods, but if it is something precious or illegal, they are not generally willing to do anything special to get it for you.
