Gurkirat felt a little disappointment that the battle was over already, but perhaps that could be blamed on how good a musician he was. He scanned the room and saw most of the obvious things were already being looted. There was a chest that remained untouched so we wandered over and examined it.
Perception:16+7=23 - (No traps I hope!)
Assuming no traps or locking mechanism, I'll just open it and ....
Appraise: 20+6=26 - (good to see I can get good rolls in non combat situations ...)
Knowledge(arcana): 19+3=22 - (are you f-ing serious)

ReplyDeleteThe other day, in the game I am running, the halfling warlock rolled 1,5,7,3 during battle. But, when it came time to build a raft he rolled a 20. Then, when we wanted to add a war ram to the front he rolled another 20.
The next battle he again rolled in the low single digits.
Gurkirat opens the chest to find it filled 3/4 full of gems. He spots agates, azurite, malachite, bloodstone, sard, and star quartz, among the staggering variety.

ReplyDeleteNym sees the gnome opening the chest under the table and, being a graceful creature, sneaks up behind him to see what the chest contains.
"HI!" She says as she steps next to him, startling him. "You're a bard, right? Do you know Vanya sulie Namaarie? I love that song. It's kind of sad, but it's so pretty! My father used to sing it. He said it was a sailing song or something. Have you ever been on a ship before? I was a cabin boy... well girl, for awhile, so I've been on a ship. I didn't really like it. I'm from the High Forest. Where are you from? Have you ever been to the high forest?" Taking a breath, Nym looks down and sees the chest is filled with jewels. "That's funny, why would a rat lady want a pile of jewels? Isn't that a strange thing to find in a sewer? I guess it's funny to find other people in the sewer too..." She grinned widely, excited to be out of danger and surrounded by non-wererats or wights.
