Rhora's Death Follow Up

Hello all! There are just a couple things to take care of before we all get to celebrate the victory and take a break for the holiday.

1. I am assuming you are going to loot the place? If anyone has any objections or would like to look at/grab anything in particular, please let me know. Otherwise, I will just give you descriptions in general of the things in the room.
2. What are you doing with Rhora's body?
3. What are you doing with the cloaked man in the hallway?

Let me know! Thanks!

  1. A good follow up on what is in the room would be nice. Beranhond is looking for any letters, books, more piles of clothing/uniforms, and anything else that might be informative about who has been helping the were-rats.

  2. Also, are we close to leveling up anytime soon?

Second, is the were-rat edible? It has been a while since Tigrisclawu has eaten.

Third, what time of day is it now?

  3. Description of the room:
The center of the room contains a table with 3 chairs around it, the fourth having been thrown at Rhora, and now lying on its side near where she fell. At 8 o'clock there is a small bed in poor shape. At 10 o'clock, there is a pile of gold, and at 12 o'clock in the room, there is a small table with several small objects on top of it and a chest underneath it.

The small objects on top of the table are, upon closer inspection, small bowls filled with jewelry.

  4. You are very close to leveling up, yes. I will be granting you a level up and letting you work on that as part of the break and celebration.

The wererat is transforming back into a human as we speak, but shouldn't have too many scary things in her blood... As long as Tigrisclawu likes human flesh...

    It is now about noon.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ahhh... Tigrisclawu doesn't enjoy human flesh - he doesn't like the taste of corruption and hypocrisy.

Beranhond is going to take a look at the stuff on the table

    Rolls that you might need...

    Perception:
    Roll(1d20)+5:
    13,+5
    Total:18

    Detect Magic:
    Roll(1d20)+7:
    17,+7
    Total:24

    Appraise:
    Roll(1d20)+2:
    4,+2
    Total:6
(nevermind, he won't spot any value with that).

  6. You find 3 copper necklaces, 5 ivory combs, and 1 set of ivory earrings in one bowl and 3 silver necklaces, 1 jade bracelet, and 1 gold medallion in the other bowl. Worth in gold pieces: 1200 gp

    ReplyDelete
  7. Carefully putting them in a pouch. Beranhond then turned and look at the rest of the room. "These items are worth 1200 gold pieces. Letting you know so that no one accuses me of stealing them for myself." He said staring particularly in the direction of the halfling.

  8. For magical items:

Round 1: There are magical auras present.
Round 2: There are 5 magical auras in the room, the strongest being somewhat moderate.
Round 3: It appears they are all on Rhora's body. Her boots, armor, and sword are magical, and she has an amulet on her neck and a potion at her waist, as well.

  9. After having Tigrisclawu shake his head at him. Beranhond goes closer to Rhora's body and takes of all the magical items, and places them in front of him.

    Detect Magic:
    Roll(1d20)+7:
    19,+7
    Total:26

  10. I misspoke earlier when I said the armor was magical. It is very good armor, and your perception check detected it, but it is not magical. It is Masterwork leather armor.

  11. Nym snuck up behind Beranhond Stealth:14+5/19 Mwahahaha and stage-whispered while peering over his shoulder at the body, "What are you looking at?"

    ReplyDelete
  12. Short sword properties:
    +1 Dex
Magically imbued with poison: 1 save, DC18, 1d2 Dex damage for 6 rounds.

    Boots properties:
    +5 acrobatics

    Amulet:
    Natural Armor +1

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok, before I cast detect magic then... are the sword, amulet, potion, and boots still magical? Or are the boots just masterwork leather armor?

    ReplyDelete
  14. The potion is a potion of fog cloud (wizard level 3)

  15. Nevermind...

He was quite startled at Nym's sneakiness.
"Just some cool stuff." But his eyes were on the blade. He picked it up and carefully examined it. "Because of my lack of dexterity and stealthiness, I would like this sword. It should help balance some of my poor reflexes. The amulet is worth natural armor +1, so it would go well to someone with a low AC." Beranhond picks up the sword and swings it. He does not necessarily like the poisoned blade, but it does make him feel sneakier.
"Did Tigrisclawu enjoy his meal?" He asked Nym as Tigris glowered over his newest nickname.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Nym smiled, "YES, he DID!" She looked at Tigrisclawu. "Didn't you, Loveymeowfuzzerkisseyface?" Nym peered at the amulet. "What's AC?"

Nym has AC of 13, probably the lowest in the party, so can she have it others?

  17. Would you like me to come up with values for the magic items? Also, are you doing an arcane check to see if there is any history for any of these items that you might know about? Gurkirat would probably be the best qualified to do this check, but he might be unavailable...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am doing an arcana check too, if I can't find anything I will have Gurkirat look at them whenever possible.

    BTW:
Right now I have both my screens filled with 12 pdf's of articles on masculinity, three firefox screens, a master's thesis, my bibliography, beranhond's character sheet, and the lord of the rings playing in the background. My computer is handling it quite nicely though...

    ReplyDelete
  19. "lovemymeowfuzzerkisseyface? What does that even mean?" Tigrisclawu said to Beranhond, though it probably sounded like a pathetic meow to everyone else.
"It is kinda cute Tigris, you should enjoy it. Stop trying to be a tough ship cat - no one believes it." Beranhond said playfully.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No...

Yes, I forgot to post it in my last one. Too many screens!

    Arcana:
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    19,+6
    Total:25

  21. The amulet is a very common type of amulet, hardening the skin and bones and causing the wearer to be less susceptible to attacks. Likewise, the boots are rather common among those who rely on litheness of body for their livelihood.

The short sword, however, is a rather rare thing. There was an assassin named Timn the Leaf of moderate skill and notoriety in Luskan about 100 years ago, who was rumored to have a special sword which enabled him to slip through tight places and cause his enemies to lose their skill and grace once struck. Timn used the sword to great effect until he was hired for a job that was a front to lure him into a trap and take his weapon from him. Once he had been disarmed, his enemies quickly dispatched him with his own weapon. The sword's new owner was much more discreet, and nothing has been heard about the sword since.

  22. Just because you want to show off how many screens you have does not mean that you can forget to post the results of your checks! :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. You just wait until I have 4 screens!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Indeed. By the time you are running the dual video card / 4 screen setup, I believe I will have my projector... :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. Also, nobody has checked the large chest under the table, either.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, but it seems a little odd for Nym and Beranhond to examine everything whilst everyone else stands still... but I guess Darvin is still arguing with Hring over the party.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That wasn't just directed at Beranhond and Nym. That was in case anyone had forgotten.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Beranhond:
The cloak still has a bit of aura lingering on it. Do you want it still? It doesn't have any magical properties in its current condition, but if you were able to repair it, it might be worthwhile.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Certainly...

What check would I need to repair it, sewing? home economics?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, as a level 2 cleric, you will get access to the "Make Whole" spell. I would recommend trying that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Beranhond:
I didn't read your Domain: Animal that well either. You have the spell "Speak with Animals" as a domain ability, so you can talk with any animal you wish for 3+your cleric level minutes per day. It says rounds, but that's dumb, so I'm going with minutes. So you have a great reason now why you can talk to Tigrisclawu. Sorry I missed that earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You just had to find a way to justify my rule breaking didn't you...

I think I need to reread all that stuff. I read it back in October, but that was quite some time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, I'm fine with you rule-breaking for flavor, but it's more that I completely forgot about the Animal Domain as an excuse for you to be able to talk to any animals, Tigrisclawu included. I don't mind you "breaking" the rules, but I prefer to take away an ability for every ability I grant and try to keep the whole thing even. If every player can grant themselves any supernatural ability they want, I would always be able to quickly and easily burrow underground and sleep there without breathing, because that would be sweet, and I would never need to have a bedroll ever again. But in order to do that, I would want to take something away from myself. For something kind of minor like this, I would take away something like your ability to speak to animals, but for more powerful things, there are more powerful tradeoffs.

I completely believe in customization, but I don't believe in "breaking" the rules and just granting powers and abilities like that. There needs to be some work that goes into it, at least. If you were to create a magic amulet that granted that ability, that works, but it would have gold and time costs, as well as a skill check to see if you were even able to do it. It's about making someone who is believable and balanced, not just making your ideal character.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Also, hero points are a wonderfully legal way to "break the rules", so I don't know what you are complaining about. I'm giving you the ability to do things you wouldn't normally be able to do, once you complete the trade-off of doing something for me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Haha, I was actually mostly kidding about you "justifying" my rule breaking.

It is interesting that you would want to burrow under ground though, haven't heard of that feat.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, it's similar to the Earth Elementals' "Earth Glide" ability, but far more limited, providing shelter and protection but not movement potential. Also kind of similar to the Druids' spell "Meld into Stone," as far as hiding. :) I have seen no feats that give you that ability, but I think it would be an awesome ability to have.

I think my favorite part of the whole thing is just coming up with new cool abilities/items. If I were playing as a character, I would probably spend more time making items than adventuring... :D
