You gotta love a video that not only has really cheesy fire and lightning effects, but also a D&D-type female villain with what looks like key chains dangling from her pierced nipples. :)
So a clarification. I said it would be 3 days by horse. Using this handy chart, I can clarify: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering---final/exploration-movement#TOC-Overland-Movement
Distances: From Waterdeep to Red Larch: 36 miles From Red Larch to Triboar: 9 miles From Triboar to Yartar: 12 miles From Yartar to Everlund: 69 miles From Everlund to Silverymoon: 9 miles
And a horse can travel 6 miles in an hour, or 48 miles in a day. You can hustle a horse for an hour, so that it goes 12 miles in an hour, but after 1 hour, it will start taking lethal damage.
As for trading out horses, you need to find a reasonable sized stable that will be willing to trade you one horse for another, using your horse as the deposit instead of gold. You are still charged the per day fee, though.
As for maps, there is a cartographer within sight of the city gates. Pre-made maps of a local region are 10 gp. In order to get all the way to Silverymoon, you'll need two maps. 1 of Waterdeep that will get you past Yartar, 1 of the Silver Marches that will get you to Silverymoon.

ReplyDeleteThis is, of course, assuming you all weigh less than 175 pounds, including your gear, if you are riding light horses.
ReplyDeleteHorses: Light cost 75 gp to buy, Heavy cost 200 gp to buy.
ReplyDeleteTo rent a light horse, you can pay 5 gp/day, and make a 35 gp deposit. The pay is due up front.
To rent a heavy horse, you can pay 10 gp/day, with a 100 gp deposit.
