Getting Back to Your Roots: May 27 12:00pm-ish

Nym passed through Yartar late morning with no incidence. She was making good time, having left so early in the morning. By around noon, Nym had made it to where the road between Yartar and Everlund stopped following a river and began following the edge of the High Forest. She would make it to Olostin's Hold and her father's cottage in the forest before dark. She smiled at this and after inspecting the landscape for any threatening creatures, she led Nesme off the road to a nearby stream for a drink. Several paces down the stream, three deer from the High Forest were also drinking the clear stream water. They looked up at Nym and Nesme, but continued drinking when they saw the girl and horse were of no threat.

While Nesme drank and rested for a bit, Nym looked about the stream bed and found a bright red clay used by the High Forest elves to paint their faces. She used the calm waters of the stream as a mirror to paint a red line from ear to ear over her eyes and three thin red lines from her bottom lip to chin. She then took a bit of charcoal, mixed it with the clay to form a black, and followed the wide line across her eyes with a thinner black line above and below. She continued doing this for a bit and then admired her work. While looking at her own reflection, she was surprised at how much her hair had grown recently. She tied it back and then collected Nesme and returned to the road.
