Camping for the night.

May 26th 6:46.

The eight of them traveled down the road at a brisk, but not pushed, pace. Eventually, after several hours of traveling they reached a spot in the road where Isolda road on over next to Beranhond.
"This road continues on up to Red Larch so we will be cutting off and heading east towards Goldenfields across the plains. We will camp for the night to rest the horses - the Abbey hasn't been all that welcome as of late so we will want to approach in the daylight."
Beranhond nodded and spread the message to Kailina and Janusa.

8:00 PM
The group stopped by a small brook. While Hrekdovaskalishavarto (Hrek) made a fire and dinner the rest of them watered and fed the horses, brushed them down and then set up their bedrolls.

After dinner, Beranhond volunteered for the first watch. As the rest fell into slumber he and Tigrisclawu stared out into the darkness.

Perception:

Total:9 (well... fitting considering he can't see very well).

Tigrisclawu Perception:
Roll(1d20)+5:

  1. Nothing happens during your watch. What time does it change and how many are there?

  2. 9 hours or so of sleep - 8 watches each an hour long.
9-6, they change at the hours.

  3. Alright. There is a disturbance at the 11 o'clock change of watch...

You wake up to one muffled cry, some mumbling, and several muffled thuds, and find the camp has been infiltrated. Two men stand over you as you wake, and Tigrisclawu seems paralyzed next to you. In the darkness, you can't make out the who is on watch, but you can see what looks like flames licking up the sides of a shape where one of the paladins was lying.

"You will come with us, now. Get up and get your things."

  4. Shrugging his shoulders Beranhond gathers his things and calmly follows them.

  5. As he gathers of his things Beranhond looks the two men over.
Sense motive: Do they come across as good/bad, angry etc.

Arcana: (would I recognize anything about the 'what looks like flames'?

  6. Perception:
As Beranhond stands, the shorter man, who is holding a maul in one hand, makes a motion, and Tigrisclawu is released, no longer paralyzed.

The other man has a club and a heavy wooden shield in his hands.

Shortly after Beranhond stands, a third newcomer arrives out of the darkness, but her coming is heralded by the fiery scythe that she carries.

    Sense Motive:
The three of them come across as tense and unhappy. They do not seem sadistic, or gleeful in any way, though in the light from the flames on her scythe, the woman who just joined the group seems grimly satisfied.

    Knowledge Arcana:
The fire seems to be a magical fire of some sort, though it's difficult to tell exactly what sort of flame without more time to study it a bit more closely. You've seen similar flames from several different spells, such as produce flame, burning hands, and the fire bolts. The flame on the scythe is obviously magical, as well, and behind the woman, you see another body with some glowing embers in its clothing in a slash that obviously came from the scythe.

  7. As the woman arrives, she nods at the two men standing by Beranhond. "The other two will be ready soon. Neither looked in a mood to fight once they saw him surrender." She said this in a slightly harsh accent, and finished by gesturing with her head at Beranhond.

  8. What were the rest of the group doing? Or cannot I not tell at all? I am assuming that one of them at least is dead.

  9. The woman turns around again after delivering this message, and walks back to where the other two members of the Lady Narath's crew were sleeping.

As you peer cautiously around while loading up your bedroll, your eyes begin to adjust to the dark, and the light from the scythe shows you that your 4 paladin companions are not moving, two of them with flames or burns on them, one with a small pool of blood around his head, and one with a conspicuously dented chestplate on his armor. When the woman stops, you see that the two crew members you took with you are getting their things ready at the same time as you are.

    Am I missing anyone?

  10. There were 4 men, one woman, the two crewmembers and myself who left.

  11. I thought it was 3 men and one woman... One second.

  12. You were right. The missing paladin is the one who was on watch.

  13. Do I recognize the accent? Beranhond himself actually has an accent (or at least according the common language standards of the sword coast), is it one from around him?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Which Paladin is the one missing? Is it the Tormish one, or one of the Lathanderian Paladins?

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's one of the Lathanderian male Paladins.

  16. And the accent sounds something like the accent of the Dalelands, though it's not as strong as a current resident's accent would be.
