Miss Stake and mistakes

Come on, you knew that vid was coming.

Not wanting to wait for Nym much longer, Talathel explained to Darvin what he had learned from the professor. He then tried unsuccessfully to get Darvin to come with him.

"You could use a good night! We won't do anything to extreme!" The half-elf though would have nothing to do with it.

"Bah. For an adventurer, you don't adventure all that much."

Before Darvin could respond, Talathel looked at Druuv.

"You in? You want to go hit the town and unwind?"

Thakalakan nodded. Talathel was grateful that he didn't say anything that rhymed.

The elf and arctic goblin descended down the stairs. Miss Stake was not at her usual spot, but the current bartender, a burly half-orc handed him a note.

"Talathel, I hope you and your friends can join me this evening. I am with some of my friends at the Royal Empress' Mezzanine. Its a strange name for a pub, but we're a unique town."

"I know where to go!" exclaimed Thakalaken, who had been reading over Talathel's shoulder. "Its just down the street and round the bend, and they say that once their the fun never ends!"

"You're not from any of my good dreams." Talathel said under his breath, as he followed Thakalakan out of the inn.

As annoying as the goblin's directions were, they were accurate. In no time, they found themselves inside that pub. It was a smaller place, with just a few tables. Talathel caught the unmistakable scent of perfume with lustful intentions and soon found Miss Stake's table.

"Talathel! I'm so glad you could make it!" Miss Stake looked radiant. Her long hair draped gracefully off her shoulders, her ears sticking out playfully, her green eyes shone like the brightest emerald the elf could have imagined.

"These are my friends, Esther Baskette, Rose Maeblum, and Ann Shovie," she said, pointing at an elf, a dwarfm and a human.

"Pleasure to meet you," Talathel said, still lost in Miss Stake's gaze.

"Shall we drink?"

"I think...that we shall."

  1. They gestured towards the halfling bartender who came running over on his short legs.
    "What can I get you?"
"A vallath manhattan for me." Miss Stake said.
    "Me as well!" Said Esther
"Firewine for us if you would good sir." Said Rose Maeblum and Ann Shovie.
"And for you two?" The bartender asked Druuv and Talathel.

  2. "I am a fan of rum, so some of your finest, if you would."

  3. "Oooh! I'd like a frozen avalanche!" Druuv said.

The halfling looked a bit puzzled, and asked him, "frozen?"

She replied, "Just add a potion of 'Chilled Touch' to the mix."

"Sorry miss, we don't have any potions in our bar."

"Oh well. I'll freeze it myself. Bring me a regular avalanche." Druuv was a bit disappointed that her unusual request hadn't been granted, but excited to get her drink regardless.

  4. The halfling shook his head and wandered off to the bar to fetch drinks. Within seconds tumblers, glasses, and mugs arose from the table.
Three four women lifted theirs up.
"To new friends!" they said taking a sip, or in the case of the human and dwarf, draining theirs in a single gulp.

  5. "So, Miss Stake, if I may ask. Whats your first name? Addressing you as Miss Stake seems a bit formal for this setting."

    ReplyDelete
  6. Talathel raised his glass. The rum smelled amazing.

"Here's to dreams." and he drank a little rum. It was indeed amazing, and he intended to savor the taste.

  7. She laughs taking another sip. "Sadly my first name is miss - my parents arrived in the city from the forest and did not realize that miss was a title not a name. It is strangely common with us second generation urban dwellers."

Druuv: Rose, a dwarf with heavy makeup and short skirt, turns over to you and examines you closer. "Say... what are you exactly?"

    ReplyDelete
  8. "My apologies, I had no idea."

Talathel wondered if wishing for her companions to leave would work. He did so during a sip from his glass, and was very disappointed when the table was still full when he opened his eyes.

  9. The human and dwarf ordered another round and downed them.
"Worry not - it is a silly name, but I am often told that it works for me Talathel." She frowned. "Do you have a nick name? Three syllabus is far too long to say when I am drinking."

  10. Druuv responded, "I'm an arctic goblin. My family is from the mountains over there-ish." She pointed in a north-northwestern direction as she said this. "How long have you been in town?"

    ReplyDelete
  11. "Well I have been here for..." Hmmm Rose said trailing off.
"Nevermind that!" Ann said. "Let's have a drinking contest, me, Druuv, and Rose here." She said slamming Rose on the back. "We shall see which race can hold its alcohol!"

    ReplyDelete
  12. Talathel chuckled. "If we win this, you can call me whatever you like, as I won't care!"

    ReplyDelete
  13. "OK, Tally." She says finishing off her drink and blinking. She then holds up her hand and signaling the bartender. After a brief second another drink arises from the table. "Tell me more about yourself - what are you into, what you like to do... are you seeing anyone?" She says taking another sip and appraising you.

  14. "But I was just about to freeze mine! That's the best part!" Druuv protested. As quick as a wink, she attempted to grab the knife from a man walking by the table. He noticed, and turned rather abruptly to look at the table, and Druuv quickly tried to talk her way out of trouble. "Sorry, sir! I was trying to point out the hat on that monkey to my friends here!"

The man looked, and though he didn't see a monkey, he shook his head and kept walking, contented that she was not a threat.

"Oh, alright! I'll play. I'm obviously not going to get a knife to chop it with anyway." Druuv said, joining the others in their drinking contest.

  15. Talathel drained his drink.

"Tally...I like it. I like adventure, I like exploring...."

He watched Druuv's spectacle with the knife.

    "I don't really know him..."

  16. After a moment three new drinks were brought out set before them.
"All right, these are all simple firewine! Ready set go!"

  17. "Thats quite impressive, but you already look pained. I doubt you three can last much longer..."

He turned back to Miss Stake. "And you? What are you into?"

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Well, I like to travel when I get the chance. I also am a big fan of reading and thinking, but frankly. I like all kinds of adventure. I like to push boundaries." She smirks. "Not quite the ones druuv seems to like to do..."

    ReplyDelete
  19. Druuv slowly slurped her drink down, as it was rather large for her. She finished it, getting a frothy line of drink on her upper lip in the process. "I think I'll go with straight vodka next, please."

  22. Talathel finished his drink and signaled for another.

"I'm sure the sites in this world are incredible."

    ReplyDelete
  23. Druuv threw hers back and had to shake it off. It had been a while since she'd gone drinking, and she needed to concentrate to stay in this thing! "Give me 'nuther!"

    4,+0

"Oh the sites are incredible. There is a waterfall up north that flow into the sky. How much have you seen of this place? Anything you like in particular?"

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Other than a beach, a purple forest, and this town, I haven't seen anything. What do you say we leave these drunks to their games and go check out the scenery."

    Talathel gave her a wink.

"Its dark, you know, not much to see now," Miss Stake answered.

"Nonsense," he said somewhat mockingly. "There could be plenty to see."

    Diplomacy:

  29. "I noticed that your...er...moons were out tonight. Perhaps a nice walk around the city? I did see a lovely park on my errands this afternoon."

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Sounds lovely... Tally." She puts some coins on the table. "I shall see you girls later!" She says taking Talathel's arm. "Lead on!"

They waved goodbye to Miss and Talathel but were too intent on the drinking to pay much heed right now.
    Rose:
    Roll(1d20)-8:
    4,-8

    Ann:

With this round Rose can't help but slip from the table. "Youu winn human! I wouuldn't celebrate too much though ussy!"
"Ann laughs quite tispy. Oh shut it, we both hang out here looking for some action. Though it looks like Miss found some!"

    ReplyDelete
  31. Talathel led her away from REM and down the streets. The four moons in the sky reflected in her elven eyes. He slid his arm around her and she fell into him ever so slightly. Talathel briefly closed his eyes and took in the scent of her perfume.

Miss Stake let out a contented sigh. The two elves said nothing, but understood each other perfectly at that moment.

    ReplyDelete
  32. After a few minutes Miss Stake turns and looks at Talathel quizzically.
"What kind of boundaries do you like to push?" She looks around the park surreptitiously.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Talathel gazed off into the night, tripping on the words in his mind. He had lived a sheltered life in the monastery, he did not consider anything he had done on his travels since leaving to have pushed any sorts of boundaries.

"To be honest, Miss Stake, I just react to what I see. I don't push things, I am rarely a catalyst. But, when I see something I desire, I will do what I must to get it."

He held her a bit closer, and looked down with a smile on his face.

    ReplyDelete
  34. "Well... what do you desire?" She says turning to look straight into Talathel's eyes. "I am sure that you will have no problem's getting what you want... I think the question more is how quickly you want to take it and how much of life you want to take a hold of..."

    ReplyDelete
  35. "I myself really want to get a hold of life right now... what about you?" she says spreading her legs slightly.

    ReplyDelete
  36. "I think we both want the same thing.."

He wrapped his arms around her and the two elves fell to the ground, Miss Stake being on top. Talathel leaned up and kissed her, not minding at all as her hair cascaded down onto his face. The hair itself was scented, though Talathel probably could not imagine such a scent before.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am leaving it up to Druuv and Talathel to wrap up these encounters as they will, within the rules of course, and within limits. I will have a final summation at the very end to wrap it up after your posts and that should take you both into the next day.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Talathel and Miss Stake kissed for several moments before Talathel pulled back a bit.

    "What's wrong?" she asked.

    "its just..."

'You're seeing someone...back in your world."

    Talathel solemnly nodded.

"You never answered me when I asked if you were seeing someone. I figured that a charming, handsome elf as yourself wouldn't be going it alone."

Talathel looked up into the stars.

    "I'm sorry."

Miss Stake stood up. "We are not of the same world, it is for the best."

She walked away, her fading footsteps echoing in Talathel's mind.

  39. Druuv wasn't able to hold a drink in her hand any longer, but she held on to the table very tightly to keep herself from sliding to the floor, and began trying to tell Ann and Rose about how love was a very wonderful thing. "You should try to find shum. 'ssgood shtuff." She then began regaling them with her tales of how love came about, "Yoou shee, the gods got mad that people defied them, sshoo they shplit them in half, and love ish what happensh when you find your other half. It'ssh quite niiice." And with a happy grin on her face, she plopped her head on the table and began snoring.

Ann called their halfling waiter, and had him call a couple people to bring the two of them back to the inn. They used the back entrance to avoid having to go up the ladder, and Druuv slept very deeply, only once groggily waking enough to ask Ann, "What're ye gonna do now that yoou won?" She was asleep again before Ann had a chance to answer.
