Druuv's Homecoming

As Druuv dives into the water she feels a bit of the usual chill before falling onto the rough earth of the mountains. As she looks around she can't help but smile and knows that she is only a few hours away from her mountain home. She tightens her backpack and starts to walk up the path.

add what detail about the walk you want, I will post again this evening with the Goblin encounter

  1. Sorry, it's been a busy day. I haven't been able to post yet. If you'd like, I can post the details of the walk later, and you can just start the encounter.

  2. "Druuv..." A loud, gravelly, deep voice said a Druuv entered. "You think you can just leave and return whenever you wish?"

  3. "Umm, yes?" Druuv said, rather timidly, hoping that she had answered correctly. She wasn't expecting this kind of greeting at all, and her mind panicked, suddenly unable to think of who could be the source of the voice.

  4. "Well... I am glad that you think that." A small goblin named Sliiv stepped out with two large mugs of beer. "I am lad to see you back, but now it is time for a drinking game like we used to do!"

  5. "Yaaay! You had me worried for a moment there! What will we play first? Drunken Doorknobs? Fistey Cuffs?" Caught up in the excitement of realizing she wasn't in trouble, Druuv forgot why she was there for a moment before coming back to her senses. "Wait, I came here for a reason. Hmm, what was that reason again? I need to find out what our people know about the shadowcasters and monks, and also if there's any other way for my friends to get back to their world. Sliiv, how about you help me find that out, and then we celebrate once we're done with a drinking game?"

  6. He looked slightly crestfallen, but perked up quickly. "Sure, everyone is in the council chambers." He then ran on down the tunnel, the beer still in his hand.

  7. When Druuv arrives in the chambers, she speaks very loudly, "I have some new friends that need my help. They intend to cause some mischief in the shadowcasters' tower, but need more information. Can anyone tell me more about the shadowcasters and the monks?"

  8. "Mischief? What kind of mischief?" The king, wearing a purple and pink dress, ask.
"Any mischief is good mischief!" A woman wearing a suit of armor responds. "Let's aid them however they want!"
"Well, we would not want to cause problems with shadowcasters. They can be rough!"
"Well, it is time for the test of frivolity!" The king yelled. Thirteen goblins dressed in various colors, outfits, and waving wands decorated with random animals ran into the room and beginning to dance in circles.

  9. Ahh, the test of frivolity. Druuv quickly changes all of her clothing to different colors, adding in blue polar bears as a consistent pattern on all of her clothing, and small kittens riding stars on her skin. Of course, the kittens riding stars really look more like ice cream cones, and the polar bears really look more like clouds, but she tried. She then cast mirror image, creating 3 extra images of herself. All 4 Druuv's begin dancing around.

  10. "Dance and Prance!" The King shouted clapping off the beat. After fifteen minutes the dancing stopped and the King called Druuv back over.
"Well, it is settled - go and find the elder goblins, they should be able to help you out."

  11. Druuv set out, in the spirit of the evening, pretending to ride a horse down the tunnel to the large cave where the elders were. Because they had a habit of constantly moving to new caves, Druuv had to ask 4 times how to get to them before she finally arrived at the chamber where they were watching a goblin tragic comedy unfold on a very small stage.

  12. When the comedy finally ended with the death of the four donkeys and the transformations of the tempest bloom into a God Druuv was finally able to make her way to the elders.
"Ah the prodigal daughter returns! Why did you come back?"

    ReplyDelete
  13. "Well, I made some new friends!" Druuv beamed at this, seeming to forget everything else she had come for.

"And you came back just to tell us that you made new friends?"

"What? Oh, no, not JUST that," Druuv responded. "They need our help."

"Ahh, so you made new friends who are needy and you agreed to help them find what they needed."

"Exactly!" Druuv beamed again, until the silence made her realize the comment was mocking. "Well, I mean that I offered. They have their own ideas of how to get what they need. You see, they came here in a dream, probably through a portal gate, and..."

Here the elders interrupted Druuv, "They came through a portal?"

"Yes, like I said, they were sleeping, and ended up on the beach. They are trying to figure out how to get home, and are trying to figure out how to get into the shadowcasters' tower to use their portal, but I thought you might know more that could help them or another way around their predicament." Druuv looked bashful for a moment, as if unsure of herself. "Could you help me help them?"

    ReplyDelete
  14. "Wait. They were sleeping and arrived on the beach and then you agreed to help them." They looked at each other confused for a moment. "So, they didn't actually travel through the dreamgates?"

    ReplyDelete
  15. "That part's a little bit hazy to me, too." Druuv tapped her chin a bit before going on. "It could be that they were somehow transported here by the shadowcasters, but by another method we know nothing about. That wouldn't be good." Druuv paused for a moment again, and the elders waited for her, knowing it was her way.

"Have you seen any shadowcaster movement lately? Have they done anything to suggest that something has changed? Do you know anything about how to get to or through the dreamgates? So many questions!" This last exasperated exclamation was made and then Druuv covered her mouth and waited, trying to force herself to silence to wait for the elders' response.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Indeed, they have been acting more boldly lately. We have been worried that they are planning to move against the free realms and are thinking of taking steps." Another stepped in "as for the dreamgates - no one has been able to actually travel through them yet, they are only used to influence other worlds. Those who have tried to cross have died, but I suspect that would not happen to them." They all stopped for a moment. "However, I have never heard of the shadowcasters having the power to pull people into this realm. We shall have to think more on that. What other questions would you like answers to?"

    ReplyDelete
  17. "They want to travel back to their plane. Is there any way to do that other than traveling through the dreamgate?" Druuv asked, taking her hands from her mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Well..." one goblin croaked from the back of the room. "The boundaries between the planes are said to be thinner higher in the air. Perhaps we could help them to build a contraption to fly them up into the air and allow them to cross that boundary."

    ReplyDelete
  19. "A flying contraption? Why not just launch them with a catapult?" Druuv asked, lost in thought at the idea of a flying contraption.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "We couldn't get enough height with a catapult. The flying contraption would allow them to find the doorway themselves."

    ReplyDelete
  21. "Hmm. Makes sense. Especially if we can't find the doorway from the ground. I suppose that could work. You say the shadowcasters have been more bold. How so? What have they been doing?" Druuv asked.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "Well, they are recruiting more and their monk allies have been more oppressive. They seem to be bringing in a lot more goods from the southern lands. They seem to be planning something big and dangerous."

    ReplyDelete
  23. "That sounds rather ominous." Druuv said. "I will let them know about the danger and the possibility of the flying contraption. Is there anything you would like to know about my companions or any message you'd like me to pass along to them?"

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Well, what are their intentions in this world?" another goblin asked "are they good or evil? Are they prone to seriousness?"

    ReplyDelete
  25. "They seem good. I think they just want to get home. As to their seriousness, I'm not sure. There are two half-elves, an elf, a monkey, and a fox pup. One of the half-elves seems somewhat serious a lot of the time, but the elf likes to drink a lot, which can lead to a lot of silliness, and the others all have a lot of potential to be very silly," Druuv responded.

    ReplyDelete
  26. All of the goblins grip their chair tightly. "Elves? What type elves?"

    ReplyDelete
  27. Druuv's reply was a bit puzzled. Maybe there was something she was forgetting. "Well, he's always drunk, so I suppose he could be a mean elf, but he's friends with a couple half-elves, and is friendly, so I don't think so. I'm not sure. Why do you ask?"

    ReplyDelete
  28. "Oh, just a relic of our history. The imperialist elves are always attempting to enforce their idea of appropriate behavior and that certainly will not be tolerated!"

    ReplyDelete
  29. "I would say he's more of a sensualist than an imperialist. I'll keep my eye on him though." Druuv opened her left eye as big as she could, showing how well she'd keep her eye on Talathel.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Good, we can never forget that it was the elves who allowed the shadowcasters to become so dominant. Keep an eye on them." The lead goblin said fiercely. When he finished another goblin stepped forward. "I believe we are finished here unless you have more questions."

    ReplyDelete
  31. "I'm very happy." Druuv said, and demonstrated with a quick dance involving a kick-jump and and a handstand. She yelled "Thank you!" before skipping off to eat a bit of the silliest of pies, strawberry rhubarb, and play a game of tag before bed.
