Homesteading

As Dan has added nothing here in sometime... I am going to use the homestead act and lay claim to this document. However, I decided to also lay claim to this website and will post here instead of in the document. Feel free to respond... if you don't anytime soon I will go ahead and finish it for you.

Talathel: As you look around you think you see a small group of men nearby wearing dark and expensive clothing. After observing them for a moment you notice that they are not paying much attention to the fight, but that they do seem to be paying attention to the armed guards patroling the arena.

Nym: As far as I can tell... you are approaching a tent that has a lot of odd light billowing out from underneath it. I will take that as a starting point.
As you approach the tent you see an unearthly light coming out from the tent. Though most everyone in the camp is at the arena, a few random people wander about. However, none of them seem interested in the tent.

Beranhond:
As is somewhat common for Beranhond, an interesting side conversation popped up when one of the students asked about the religion of the northlands. Beranhond started to explain the pantheon of Gods. However, he was only halfway through when he was distracted by a darkly dressed man standing in the shadow of a tent and staring his way.

Darvin:
Blows were traded back and forth; however neither of you seem to be able to make contact with the other. Khurshid seemed tireless and continued to taunt Darvin.

“Skinny elf-boy, perhaps you need to go home and spend some more time nursing at your momma’s teats!”

  1. I thought the game was sucked up into a passing black hole that had +5 to "no one had time to play anymore". It rolled a natural 20.

  2. Ah yes, but I decided I wanted a conclusion so took it over. Plus, natural 20s are only crits on attack roles - not on skill checks!

  3. Besides, Pullman in covered in snow so I have no reason not to play. Should be a great weekend for the applecup in either case.

  4. Talathel gave a look out into the ring. Darvin seemed to be doing alright. At least as good as a half-elf might be expected of fairing in...well, anything.

The elf kept an eye on the mysterious men, and slipped out of the crowd. He walked around a bit, hoping that if he took a long route to a guard, he might slip the mind of the men in nice fabrics. But, he felt they had alterior motives.

  5. Talathel:
As you make your way around you see Beranhond talking to a group of orcs about linguistics. You don't notice any of the men in nice fabrics following you, but it is hard to tell due to the volume of the crowd. As you gaze across the camp you see, with your keen elf eyes, that near the edge of the camp a person that looks to be Nym stepping into a tent.

  6. Talathel makes his way to Beranhond. He occasionally looks behind him to see if he's being followed.

    Perception:

He comes up to Beranhond, and taps him on the shoulder.

"Sorry to interrupt, but we may have company..."

  7. Beranhond turned, looking shocked for a moment.
"I know, I saw them too. There is certainly something fishy going on around here." He turned back in order to make sure that the man hadn't moved. "How is Darvin's battle going? Is it almost over?"

  8. "He's doing about as well as one might expect a half-elf to do."

Talathel had softened up his rhetoric on half-elves as of late, but he sometimes he would return to his old habits. "He's still upright, at least."

  9. Beranhond nodded in agreement his eyes still on the man in the dark clothing.
"Have you seen Nym? I am starting to think that this camp is not nearly as peaceful as it appears."
    Paz walked on over.
"Is something wrong?" He asked the two of them. The class seemed to be concerned as well.

  10. "I saw her come out of a tent near here. I was surprised she was not watching the fight, at least not yet."

  11. Darvin was standing in the middle of the ring, sweaty, bruised and trying to remember why he in this fight again. At about the same time he was having that thought he got popped in the face, which was a rude reminder to pay attention to the fight at hand. Darvin reared back and threw a flurry of punches...

    Attack #1:

    Attack #2:

Darvin's first punch missed as Khursid deftly dodged, but she moved right into the second punch. The crowd made a loud groaning sound.

  12. Talathel heard the groans of the crowd.

"Perhaps he's doing more than standing?"

  13. "He might have evolved to moving in circles." Beranhond said to Talathel before turning his attention to Paz.
"Do you know who that man is?"
Paz looked his direction and shook his head.
"I have never seen him around here, perhaps he came for the fight? It is not an unusual thing."

  14. Before either Talathel or Beranhond had a chance to respond a great cry thunderclap split the air. Talathel and Beranhond turned to try to find the source of the sound, but instead saw that many of the fires around the camp were suddenly doused.
"What... is going on?" Paz said nervously.
"I have no idea." Beranhond responded lamely.

  15. Darvin and Khursid circled around each other, trading blows a few more times. When Darvin tried to make a dash across the sand Khursid stuck her leg and tripped him. He rolled on the ground, and was about to get back up when he heard a terrible thunderclap sound in the camp. At nearly the same moment the torches lighting the arena all went out and the audience screamed in fright.
Darvin looked around trying to see the source of the commotion. All he was able to make out was a group of men dressed in black raising staffs into the air. From the end of one of them a large ball of fire shot through the air and out of the arena.
From the back of the stands a voice shouted out.
    "Flee for your lives!"

  16. Talathel did not know what was going on. He backed away from Beranhond somewhat nervously.

"You take care of things here...I'm going to check on Lailsan." He hurridly made his way back to the others through the ever-panicking crowd.

  17. It takes Talathel longer than normal to make his way through the camp. The people fleeing the arena and the lack of fires have led to a general mayhem. Finally he finds the tent where the crew has armed themselves. Laisan is in the back with Aelysin and they both look quite nervous. When Lailsan sees Talathel she runs over and embraces him.
"We were so worried... what is going on out there?"
"Where are the others? Where is Beranhond?" Aelsyin asks standing up and grabbing her staff.

  18. Lailsan interrupts the Aelysin, and asks, "Is it as bad out there as it sounds?" With this question, she is already peeking around Talathel out of the tent.

As she leans out to look around, an orc comes crashing through the side of the tent just behind her, tearing a large hole on his way into the tent as he falls. Before anyone can react, he jumps back to his feet, roars a challenge, and slashes another hole to escape through.

  19. Aelysin, startled by the orc crashing through the tent, notices immediately that the tent is no longer stable, and lunges with a shout, shoving Lailsan and Talathel out as the tent collapses where she had just been standing. They fall in a pile just outside the tent in a crash as orcs stream past them in frightened disarray.

The crackle of magic drew their attention, and a frightful cry of rage made Lailsan start to shake.

  20. Seeing what seems to be a large magical battle beginning in the camp, Talathel says, "Let's get out of camp, where we can see what's going on. Move!"

The group begins moving at a fast but cautious pace out of the camp. They have to move around several groups of orcs fighting each other and other beasts, ending up going a long way out of their way, and it took them almost an hour to get to the edge of the camp.
