  2. Violet retaliates against the slaver, swinging her light mace at him. She is able to hit him twice, doing only moderate damage each time and leaving the slaver still bloodied.

  3. After seeing the slavers appear and Nym's haphazard escape attempt Darvin says to no one in particular, "Oh stockings..." And then quickly dodges the incoming crossbow bolt. He pulls out his cutlasses and prepares to attack.

Darvin's first two attacks miss. He wasn't quite his old self after the sex, a bit groggy, you know how it is. His third attack connects opening a gash on the slaver in front of him.

Darvin's second round of attacks go very similar to the first leading him to experience a bout of deja vu.

  4. Darvin should have been attacking Slaver 3, actually. He was able to hit an additional time, and his attacks should have dealt more damage, because he wasn't calculating in the flaming and icy damage. He was able to freeze the man, then set him on fire, before freezing him once more. As he froze the final time, he fell to the ground dead. Apparently, his constitution just couldn't take it. Well done, Darvin. You killed someone again. It's been a while.

  6. Nym, you are grappled so you can't move... You also can't draw your weapon to attack.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ugh, then why did you even bother to tell me there is a -2 for attacks to being grappled?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Because, we are jerks and didn't tell you everything. Drawing a sword counts as a move action. However, you could kick them. Or, you could escape from the grapple. It is a CMB vs. CMB. Once you are ungrappled you can then use your move action to draw your sword. That will be the end of your first attack round. However, that would leave you the second attack round to actually attack and/or move. At that point, even if you are grappled again you can still attack, but with the -2 penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  9. attack CMB instead of AC. Nym's CMB modifier is +4.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Can I use my Escape artist still (+5) instead?

    ReplyDelete
  11. yes, you should still attack the CMB, but use the +5 instead of the +4

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm using the same rolls, dammit!

Nym steps aside as slaver 3 falls dead from Darvin's attack. She sighs dramatically at slaver 5 and rolls her eyes as she pulls of the netting. "A trident? REALLY?" she says, as she kicks the slaver in his crown jewels. She feels a slight crunch as his face goes red and he lets out a strangled squeak. Pipper jumps up from the grass from behind the slaver and bites him in the ass for attacking Nym. Pipper and Nym then continue running toward the camp being sure to keep the nut-kicked slaver between them and the crossbow shooting slaver for cover.

    Escape Slaver 5:
    1d20+5,
    20+5, 25

    Kick Slaver 5:
    1d20+4 CMD
    17+4
    21

    Pipper attack:
    Bite 1d20+4, 1d4-1 dam
    18+4, 22
    3-1, 2 dam

    Pipper stealth hide:
    1d20+4
    20+4
    24
Pipper is hidden from Slaver 5 in the grass.

    Nut-kick rules from Pathfinder: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Dirty-Trick

    Dirty Trick

You can attempt to hinder a foe in melee as a standard action. This maneuver covers any sort of situational attack that imposes a penalty on a foe for a short period of time. Examples include kicking sand into an opponent’s face to blind him for 1 round, pulling down an enemy’s pants to halve his speed, or hitting a foe in a sensitive spot to make him sickened for a round. The GM is the arbiter of what can be accomplished with this maneuver, but it cannot be used to impose a permanent penalty, and the results can be undone if the target spends a move action. If you do not have the Improved Dirty Trick feat or a similar ability, attempting a dirty trick provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver.

If your attack is successful, the target takes a penalty. The penalty is limited to one of the following conditions: blinded, dazzled, deafened, entangled, shaken, or sickened. This condition lasts for 1 round. For every 5 by which your attack exceeds your opponent’s CMD, the penalty lasts 1 additional round. This penalty can usually be removed if the target spends a move action. If you possess the Greater Dirty Trick feat, the penalty lasts for 1d4 rounds, plus 1 round for every 5 by which your attack exceeds your opponent’s CMD. In addition, removing the condition requires the target to spend a standard action.

    Sickened:
The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

  13. Slaver's turn:
Slaver 5 AOO (which takes place before the penalty):

    Roll(1d20)+8:
    20,+8
    Total:20
    (crit?)
    Roll(1d20)+8:
    8,+8

    Roll(1d8)+4:
    8,+4
    Total:12x2=24
    (nasty...)

    Slaver 1:
Points the crossbow at Darvin and fires (twice)
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    5,+6
    Total:11

    Roll(1d20)+6:
    13,+6
    Total:19
    (both miss him)

Slaver 2 attempts the same thing:
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    4,+6
    Total:10

    Roll(1d20)+6:
    2,+6
    Total:8
    (both miss).

    Slaver 3: Dead

Slaver 4: Catches Nym (double moving action 1) and tries to grab (action 2).
    Roll(1d20)+8:
    2,+8
    Total:10
    (fail), Nym avoids him.

Slaver 5: Is slowed because of the testicle shot, but stumbles after Nym. He catches up with her with a double move. (action 1 and 2, as I assumed you double moved with your second round). Alas, he can not do anything else.

    Slaver 6:
    Attacks Violet again.
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    5,+6
    Total:11

    Roll(1d20)+6:
    10,+6
    Total:16

Slaver 1 and 2 are attacking Darvin
    Slaver 3 is dead
Slaver 4 failed to grab Nym.
Slaver 5 caught up to Nym by quad moving.
Slaver 6 is failing to attack Violet.

    Violet's turn.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Nym and Pipper do a quad run.

Is Slaver 5 as fast as me? And how close am I to the orc camp remains and/or Nesme and our other companions?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Were you intending to do the quad run for your next turn? You were not able to do it for your previous turn (just in case you were wondering):
    Action 1:
Escape and kick (move and standard)
    Action 2:
    Double run

    Slaver 5:
    Action 1:
    Double run
    Action 2:
    Double Run
    = quad run.

The slavers are as fast as you - the kick to the testicles was only a one round slow. He will take a -2 to attack next time though.

The spot where you left your other companions is still two turns at a quad run away.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Violet continues to attack Slaver 6, hitting him with a glancing blow and then Maybe hitting him a second, more solid blow, that Might fell him.

    Attack 1: Roll(1d20)+14:
    16,+14
    Total:30

    Damage: Roll(1d6)+1:

    Total:2

    Attack 2: Roll(1d20)+14:
    1,+14
    Total:15 It's a 1, but still good enough to hit. DM's Call.

    Damage 2: Roll(1d6)+1:
    5,+1

  17. No hit on the second one... fortunately no one is nearby to get the damage instead.

  18. Darvin attacks the next closest slaver after killing the previous fellow.

    Attack #1:
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    9,+6
    Total:15
    Hit!

    Damage:
    Roll(2d6)+3:
    6,6,+3
    Total:15
Half of that is fire damage. Slaver 1 is now engulfed.

Slaver 1 yelps in pain and agony as Darvin runs him threw and he bursts into flames. He falls down dead into a charred heap. "Cool," Darvin says as he looks at his new sword.

    Attack #2:
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    19,+6
    Total:25
    Crit?

    Roll(1d20)+6:
    11,+6
    Total:17
    Yes

    Damage:
    Roll(2d6)+3:
    2,4,+3
    Total:9x2 = 18

Darvin attacks the next slaver and connects again, this time with his icy cutlass. The slaver freezes and looks in pain and very cold all at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Slaver 4 and 5 continue to chase Nym, quad moving to keep pace with her. They are used to chasing down slaves, so seem quiet adept at keeping up with her.

Slaver 2, looking very frightened of the flaming and iced, sword, draws his sword (move action) and attacks:
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    12,+6
    Total:18
    Damage:
    Roll(1d8)+4:
    3,+4
    Total:7.

Slaver 6 attacks violet with his sword. He is very fearful of death and can feel a lot of blood gushing.
    Roll(1d20)+6:
    15,+6
    Total:21
    Roll(1d8)+4:
    7,+4
    Total:11.

Slaver's 4 and 5, as well as Nym, are now eight moves (so, roughly 240 feet) away from Darvin and Violet. They are just about to the edge of camp and not too far away from where the rest of Kilink had camped for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  20. As a free action, Nym is basically yelling the whole time she is running toward Kilink. "Help! Slavers are attacking!" and so on.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kilink is not there, unfortunately... They all left...

Violet attacks the slaver next to her, who is near death, bludgeoning him one more time so he falls over. She then moves opposite the slaver attacking Darvin, and quietly says, "Sneak attack!" He falls very easily before he can do anything. Violet looks over the fallen foe, and yells to Darvin, "Now let's go help the girl!" and takes off running. She gets 30 ft closer, so now she's 210 ft away

    Attack: Roll(1d20)+14:
    6,+14
    Total:20

    Damage: Roll(1d6)+1:
    5,+1

    Attack: Roll(1d20)+14:

  22. I am going to assume Darvin follows.
The slavers continue to chase Nym into the camp. The people working on the camp seem concerned, but none of them make a move to help Nym either by slowing the slavers or distracting them. Rather, they look on in suspicion at her, seemingly believing that the outsiders had brought this ruin onto the camp.
As Nym, and the two slavers, reach the spot where most of Kilink had camped the night before she was happy to see Nesme tied up to a barrel. However, Beranhond and Talathel were no where in sight.
"You are causing us much more grief than you are worth." The lead slaver said as he drew his sword and advanced slowly on Nym.
Behind the slaver Darvin and Violet sprinted into view.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "I should hope I am," replies Nym as she hops on Nesme, sets Pipper in his saddlebag and kicks Nesme into a run back around toward Darvin and Violet.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Violet continues running toward Nym. Violet runs a "quad run", so she moves 120ft. How far does Nym go on a horse in a round? And how far are Darvin and Violet from Nym and the slavers after her?

    ReplyDelete
  25. The two slavers shake their heads, realizing they have lost.
"I don't think you have seen the last of us..." they call out before darting into the campsite and joining the growing hubbub of refugees.

End combat, return to free flowing time as you wish
