Beranhond's Path

Beranhond felt a little queasy and felt ready to vomit. The path felt as if it had shifted drastically - it felt much like the Lady Narath at sea. He kept his head down to calm his stomach and hoped that the beast wasn't about to crush him.
"Eth... look up."
Beranhond finally raised his head and was shocked to see that they were sitting on a much narrower path. Tigrisclawu was cleaning himself and didn't seem to care. However, Aelysin was looking down in awe.
"I can't see any sign of the beast or the crossroads." She said to him as his stomach started to settle. Beranhond sat up more firmly and was even more surprised to see that their traveling group had been further reduced.
"Where are they?" he asked nervously.
"I think they are on the other half of the path." Zalkar responded as he shook dirt of his robes. "I hope they are OK."

  1. Beranhond turned, glad to see that at least he was around. Perhaps I can reach them. Beranhond set his pack on the ground and reached into find the speaking stone.
"Talathel? Darvin? Anyone?" Beranhond said clearly into the stone.

  2. As Nym rode back to where she'd left Darvin and Violet, she heard a muffled voice coming from underneath Pipper. Pipper was none too happy about having voices come from his butt, and he began growling at the voices. Nym stopped Nesme to dig in Pipper's saddlebag and pulled out the speaking stone.

Hearing Beranhond's voice, Nym was more than a little annoyed. "Is conspiring with Thay going well?" she asked.

  3. "Really well actually Nym." Beranhond said smiling. Even though he felt that she had been acting rather odd lately it was still good to hear her voice. "Aelysin, your buddy Zalkar, and I were attacked by a planar creature. We lost track of Talathel but are planning on trying to find him and then find a way to Thay to meet up with the Paladins."

  4. "How were you attacked by a planar creature?" She suspected the answer was they were traveling the planes... with a Thay wizard... with no preparation. Sometimes her companions really were idiots, she thought.

  5. Beranhond held back a laugh. "Oh, I always attract odd creatures... crazed druids, bugbear's, mad Lathanderian priests. It just goes with the job. We are taking a shortcut through the planar regions that the Thayvian wizard's constructed. Your concern is touching though - has there been any word about what attacked the camp last night?"

  6. Nym face-palmed herself as her suspicions were proved correct and heaved a heavy sigh. She hesitated a moment before responding, "No... no news about the attack."

Does Nym realize she attacked the camp?

  7. Off that roll, and her wisdom/intellect, I think Nym would be more worried that she inadvertently summoned something rather than actually being the creature. But, no she doesn't realize she actually attacked the camp. Though she is suspicious she, and blue illuvaen had something to do with it.

He is able to tell that you are hiding some concern.

Beranhond smirked to himself on two accoutns. "You think that it was a poor idea for me to come here don't you..." he sighed. "I will admit that I am rather reckless, but we do have silver ties that bind us to the home portal so you don't have to worry about us getting lost. Also, I can unleash near endless healing waves..." Beranhond then turned to the moment of hesitation that made him suspicious.
"regardless, your concern about my recklessness is touching, but your hesitancy in answering makes me a little worried Nym, did you learn something bad about last night?" Beranhond reflected for just a second realizing that it could be something else going. "Or does your hesitancy have something to do with Darvin - is he alright?"

  8. "Well, as long as you're all alright..." Nym grumbled, glad they had at least anchored themselves in some way. "Oh! Darvin's fine!" replied Nym hastily. "Though who is this Violet person?" she asked, changing the subject.

Beranhond is suspicious of many things.

"Oh fine is he? Interesting... I am sure he is doing just fine" Beranhond responded in a slightly knowingly tone while he winked in Aelysin's direction. She stifled a laugh. Zalkar on the other hand just looked confused. "I am sure Darvin is just fine..." Beranhond said trailing off. If nothing else that would be bothersome to Nym.
"This Violet is someone who can help us. Now, before you grumble about dubious circumstances or anything like that I would like to remind you that not that long ago Darvin and I met this odd, rather awkward, teenage half-elf boy who had this crazy story about how he wound up in the lair of a wraith..." Beranhond said rather straightforwardly.
"Of course, he turned out to be a she and wound up being a very helpful companion regardless of the odd circumstances under which we first met. So do give her a chance... we do not have a lot of friends in the world right now."

  10. Nym was confused at Beranhond's repeated statement that Darvin was fine. Did EVERYONE watch us make love? she wondered. What a weird person Beranhond is... She chuckled at Beranhond's reference to their first meeting, and smiled. "Oh, Violet seems trustworthy enough. I just wanted to check her story out to make sure everything was as it seemed." Nym frowned, suprised Talathel hadn't piped up in the background to insult anyone, especially Darvin. "Is Talathel with you?" Nym asked, worried slavers or worse may have befallen him.

    ReplyDelete
  11. "Hope you are feeling better Darvin! As for where we ran off to... We decided to go and visit Thay and see what is going on there. You weren't in a good mood before we left, and it was fairly obvious that Nym didn't want to go, so Talathel and I decided it would be best to hurry on over and then hurry on back. I am sure we will back in no time. We are just chilling in the planar regions right now."

  12. Nym is still waiting for a reply.

  13. Beranhond, waited for a moment and heard nothing from Darvin.
"Alright, well be safe, use protection!" He then stowed the stone away and started gathering his things.
"Where are we off to?" He said looking toward Zalkar.
"Would be best if we could find Talathel, but I fear that might not be possible."

  14. BH obviously lost track of that question, but he did mention earlier that he lost track of Talathel...

  15. Nym felt slightly miffed as if she'd been hung up on when Beranhond was suddenly gone and the rock had stopped glowing. She rolled her eyes and continued back to where she'd left Violet and Darvin.

  16. "Not be possible?" Beranhond asked as he looked out at the terrain. He turned around and followed the silver threads that lead from their backs. Eventually they joined up with two other threads that lead in the complete opposite direction.
"At least we know they are still alive." Zalkar said. He too had followed the silver threads.
"Let's at least head back..." Aelysin said pointing in the direction that she thought they had come from.
The other two nodded and they started walking on back down the road toward the crossroads.

Zalkar walked slightly ahead of Beranhond and Aelysin with a rather worried expression on his face.
"Oh dear... oh dear..." He kept mumbling.
Aelysin walked a little closer to Beranhond and leaned in.
"For a wizard of Thay he is rather..."
    "Bizarre?" Beranhond whispered back.
    "Incompetent."
"Oh... yes, that too." He whispered back chuckling to himself.
"I hope they are OK." The odd wizard mumbled again.
"Do you think we will be alright?" Aelysin asked.
Beranhond didn't answer for a moment. "I am sure we will be OK. This place is much less frightening than dealing with Ishmael and his crazed group. Plus, there are no hobbits around trying to sacrifice you."
    She blushed.
At this Beranhond raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Plus, we aren't in the really dangerous parts of the Astral sea. We could be in the darker parts or hanging out in the realm of the Gods."
"Oh you would like that wouldn't you..."
    "What?" Beranhond responded feigning confusion.
"You know what I am talking about. You try to play all 'holier than thou,' but I know that behind that facade is a romantic fool." She looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Still, Eth, you are quite different than most guys I have known."
"Is that a good or bad thing?" Beranhond asked curious.
"It is a good thing in most ways. However, I am hoping that you will rise to the occasion." She responded smiling.
It was then Beranhond's turn to blush and he quickly looked away.
    "So... was Ceilith your first?"
"There were some idle crushed before her, but yes she was my first love."
"That isn't what I was asking about..." she said winking at him.
He then turned and tried to glare at you.
"Oh lighten up..." she said playfully elbowing him. "You could be back in the Orc camp watching Darvin chase after Nym. Instead, you get to enjoy a nice fun walk in the astral sea with me."
    "Oh joy..."

  18. As Aelysin mercilessly needled Darvin they did not see the creature gently sneaking along the path. After another five minutes Tigrisclawu, sensing something amiss, turned around and hissed.
    "Beranhond you fool!" He snarled.
Beranhond, confused at Tigrisclawu's behavior, turned to look behind him. As he did so a large fist smacked him in the chest.
