In the Hall of Aethea

"Oh, they are probably doing what they think is best. Though best is a relative term for Darvin." Talathel responded smiling at Aethea.
Zalkar grew more nervous as they continued to sit at the table. Although Talathel seemed rather unworried, Zalkar was very suspicious of the situation. Why would they want him? He wasn't the leader of the group or anything Zalkar thought to himself. He set his glass down and looked around at the guards stationed throughout. They had no weapons, but had the bearing of people who needed none. From the muscles on their arms, Zalkar could tell that their robes hid powerful physiques. Their steely calm reminded him of monks he had met while traveling in Faerun.

Zalkar was quite calm compared to Lailsan. She hadn't been to keen on traveling through the Astral Sea to begin with, but their recent arrival in this odd land had made her even less comfortable. At the same time, she was rather curious about these people. From their knowledge of Talathel, and Talathel's ease with the setting it appeared that this was the land that he had traveled to before the destruction of Waterdeep.
"How do you know Talathel, Aethea?" Lailsan said interuppting.
The woman looked her direction.
"Oh, he was kind enough to destroy the evil Shadowcasters, weren't you?" She said smiling

  1. "I would not say I. There were several of us that were traveling though. But yes, we were able to aid in that. How are things now that the shadowcasters are gone?"

  2. "Splendidly, as you can see, I have managed to arrange a deal with the monks, and the land is finally free of the oppression of the Shadowcasters. How is the rum?" She said snacking on a bit of cheese.

  3. "The rum is lovely. How is Illuvian?"

  4. Her eyes darkened slightly.
"Illuvaen has... taken into his head that he should have had control of the gem. As a result, he is leading an insurgency against the peaceful peoples of this land. I never thought him to be such a traitor to his people."

  5. Talathel chewed a bit of food as he thought it over. He never got a good read on Illuvian. Nym seemed to like him, Darvin not so much. The elf gave a sigh.

"Is that why I'm here...and you want my companions?"

  6. "Well, I have a bit of information that might be useful for you. I thought we could trade - my information for your assistance."

  7. "What sort of information? I am willing to listen to what you have to say."

He looked over at Zalkar. "You still look pale, dear wizard. Try the food our hosts have offered us."

  8. "Information about your leader. My sources told me that you were looking for him." She took a bite of food.
"I just need you to track down my son and his rebels. Maybe speak some sense to him and try to talk him into returning so that this land can return to peace."

  9. "You don't mean Kodael?"

Talathel's mind raced with the possibilities. It certainly would be an honor to meet his religion's leader.

  10. She smiled. "I see I have your attention. Yes, I hae information on his wanderings, the order he has found, and importantly, where he is heads. I will give it all to you in exchange for just a bit of help."
Beside him Zalkar took a couple of bites and tried to regain his composure.
His Thayvian training hadn't prepared him for this. He thought glumly. They had no idea that others could manipulate the planes. He needed to get word out to the new republic soon!

  11. "I suppose a little investigating wouldn't hurt. After dinner, how about you fill us in. In the meantime, have you any more rum?"

  12. Aethea smiled. "but of course." She nodded to one of the attending butlers. He dashed out of the room who returned a moment later with another large tray of various types of rum.
    "Do enjoy your dinner."

We can Rp the post dinner conversation, or I can just give you a run down on what she has to say.

  13. Since I am busy all the time, I'll elect to just get a run down of what she said to move things along.

  14. Good choice. She tells you that the resistance is concentrated in the cities of the land. As you remember from last time it can be sneaky to get in, but she trusts you can find a way. Once you find Illuvaen and try to talk him into returning, and/or, bring his location to Aethea, she will tell you what she knows of your leader.
She suggest you try to return to the village you previously visited. It was close to their old village and so is a likely place for Illuvaen to be.
