Nym's tiny escapade.

Nym felt nothing as she stepped throug the shimmering portal. The other room was small, unadorned, and poorly lit. Fortunately her dancing lights made the transition shortly after her and lit up the rest of the room.
To her surprise she saw Illuvaen grinning in the corner.
"You look surprised!" He said laughing. "I would be too. But worry not, I am not actually here in the flesh Nym. I managed to get some help in order to subvert this silly "test" to briefly talk to you." He stepped closer. "I need your help."

  1. Nym's first instinct was to hug Illuvaen warmly, but her recent encounter with him at the orc camp left her wary. She smiled, though, agreeing that the test was, in fact, silly. "With what?" she asked.

  2. Illuvaen leaned in and spoke quietly to Nym.

  3. He said words... they are secret words.

  4. Nym nods, replying softly, "I understand."

  5. I have been waiting for Darvin to catch up, but Nick hates me for some reason.
Illuvaen looked at her for a moment.
"So, how has everything else been?"

  6. "Confusing," replied Nym, sighing. She studied Illuvaen for a moment. "How are you able to talk to me here?"

  7. "Life usually is." He smiled at her. "Its really complicated, the wizard who is doing the magic for me couldn't even explain it. I do not know how long the spell will hold, but I do have one bit of info for you. The water druids were the ones who destroyed Waterdeep and are getting set to destroy Baldur's Gate, so you should seek them out. Is there anything else I can answer before I go?"

  8. Nym frowned at the news about the druids and shifted uncomfortably. "Do you..." she started, not sure how to ask her question of Illuvaen. She sighed, "Do you think destroying the druids is the right thing to do?" She looked up at Illuvaen. Her eyes were filled with confusion. "I mean, it's clear what they've done to Waterdeep was evil; many innocents died and many more lost everything they had all because of the druids… and they killed Beranhond's companions without question..." Nym began to pace, frustrated. "I- I'm... I'm not sure I have the right to take their lives. I'm not sure I can be a good person and destroy them... But then, I don't think my happiness or goodness can be compared in worth to the lives that will be destroyed at Baldur's Gate and the lives that have already been destroyed at Waterdeep and elsewhere." Nym stopped pacing and looked at Illuvaen with pleading eyes. "I'm afraid I will become what I hate if I do this thing... and yet, perhaps this is a sacrifice I must make so that goodness will win out in this world. Perhaps I must commit evils in the name of goodness... to make a better world where I will have no place because of my deeds." Nym flopped on the ground, defeated. She hoped Illuvaen had some sort of advice that might help her decide her path.

  9. Illuvaen looked a little sad and sighed.
"Nym, I can't make that choice for you. Good and evil are constantly shifting targets, and it is hard sometimes to see where the good and evil start and stop. But, can you honestly let the druids go unpunished? They displaced hundreds if not thousands of people in their quest to defeat evil. Have they done any good against this rising evil, or have they just contributed to it? I myself can't get past the idea of all those homeless orphans because of their carnage."

  10. Nym was quiet for a moment before asking, "What did we do at the orc camp and how can I do it again?"

  11. "I can't tell you about that right now, it isn't safe. I will try to contact you when you return to your ship."

  12. Nym nodded. "Alright, now how do I get out of here?" she said, looking around.

  13. He pointed behind him.
"I am not sure, but there is probably a door that will appear as soon as I go. I believe I took the place of someone who was going to lecture you about making good choices." He winked and faded. As soon as he did a door appeared in the wall behind him.

  14. "A lecture. How fun," muttered Nym to no one in particular as she opened the door.

  15. The door led back to the room with the ghosts. They were all standing with looks of excitement on their faces. As Nym stared in to the center of the room she saw Darvin holding aloft a shimmering greatsword.
"Alright ghostys." He said. "Before I strike this Obelisk I want to go know how to get out of here." Before any of the ghosts had a chance to respond Darvin continued. "Just ride the bed? You sure?" Another pause. "OK, I guess I will trust you."
He then swung the greatsword down onto the obelisk. Where the sword hit the obelisk a large crack formed and spread up and down the obelisk.
"Thank you..." The ghosts said before fading.
