Tarsis

Seeing no comments from the last post...

The ever enlarging company rode out from the small village later that day. They stopped for a brief lunch, courtesy of food provided by Lanarra, late that afternoon. Aranel and Violet chatted off and on for the ride while Darvin and Nym were subdued. Grumbleshanks spent most of the day sleeping, his donkey wandering back and forth across the trail.

The party continued like this for several days until they reached the outskirts of a medium sized city toward night.
"This is Tarsis." Aranel explained. "Currently it the name of both the kingdom and the city, but that seems to change daily. We should be able to meet with my contact tomorrow morning to see if he has any information about your ship."
"I wouldn't mind finding an Inn inside." Nym piped up.
"I will just sleep out here regardless." Grumbleshanks complained.
Darvin, I detect an evil in the city. If you have time tomorrow you search it out. Darvin's sword piped up in his head.
Violet just shook her head.

  1. Let me know my tomorrow evening if you want to do anything at night. Or... go ahead and do it. The gates are open still so you could find an Inn. If you do nothing, I will restart the action the following morning inside the city.

  2. Moving on...
The next morning came fairly quickly. Everyone, except for Grumbleshanks, found an inn to their liking. The pillows and beds were decent, but nothing special. The food was a little bland, but it filled them.
The party was all downstairs eating breakfast when Grumbleshanks made his way inside.
"Ale." He demanded from the innkeep.

  3. Darvin looked at the halfling and said, "It's breakfast time. Why do you want ale? Has Talathel possessed you?"

  4. Grumbleshanks said nothing, but waited until the ale arrived. He took a long swallow.
"For some reason, sleeping outside seems to bother these city folk." He took another long drink.
"I just want to sleep on the ground outside a city, do I always have to be harassed?"

  5. "Maybe you would not be harassed as often if you could manage to be a little more unobtrusive," Violet said, making a show of innocence as she said it.

  6. Grumbleshanks turned toward Violet.
"Unobtrusive?" Grumbleshanks said laughing and taking another drink. "Is spending the night with a margravine considered unobtrusive by you? If so maybe I should try tht next time."

  7. Nym winked at Darvin and smiled over her juice glass at him before going turning on her innocent-and-interested face for Grumbleshanks. "Is 'sleeping outside' what we're calling creeping on rooftops these days?" mused Nym as she sipped her breakfast juice.

  8. Grumbleshanks ignored Nym and continued to sip his beer. Before too long a new person joined the table.
"Good to see you again Aranel. Nice to meet all of you. My name is Ascadan and I have alot of contact with the "imperial navy" what can I do for you?"

  9. "What can you tell us of the navy, Ascadan? Size, armament, reputation, etc. All are important." Violet asked, to forestall any more bickering among the members of the party.

  10. " A navy!?" Darvin asked excitedly, "What kind of ships do they have? And do they need a captain?"

  11. "Fairly small, only about fifteen ships, all light armarments, known for being very fesity and combative. They are able to take on larger ships due to their swiftness and excellent leadership." the man smiled at Darvin. "Sadly, there are no opening for a captin... and don't you have your own ship?"

  12. "How are the ships dispatched at the moment? Are they near to hand, or assigned to the far reaches of the sea?" Violet asked.

  13. "There are a few close at hand, the rest are further out to sea. We are in the midst of a conflict with a rival navy so have been mobilizing. What do you need the ship for?"

  14. Aranel wasn't quite sure what to make of the company she had joined.
"Where was your ship supposed to meet you Darvin?"

    ReplyDelete
  15. "Well, we were on our way to it when we kind of got...sidetracked." Darvin gave an accusatory glance to Violet, Grumbleshanks and Aranel.

  16. Grumbleshanks chuckled. "Oh, so where is it exactly?"

  17. Sorry for not posting, the last few weeks have been a tad busy.
Ascadan says there is a ship heading out in the morning. It could help rendezvous with the Lady Narath. Thus, you have a free day in Tarsis. Please let me know if you would like to do anything by... Wednesday. If nothing is posted before then I will go ahead and do what I like.

  18. I think I can safely speak for everyone and say we are fine wasting the time before getting on the ship. :) Hope you're feeling better, Whit.
