A Reunion Aboard the Lady Narath, Part 1, BH style

Bernahond glared at Tigrisclawu, not entirely annoyed, but a little perturbed at the feline's behavior. Tigris had always been a bit moody, but he had started showing quite the preference toward Evelaen. He bent down and took the bird into his hand and was shocked when it started to squeak, "Visit Oden's for all of your adventuring needs!"
"Well, I suspect that's Violet's calling card."
Evelaen looked somewhat bemused at Beranhond. "It sounds more like an annoying viral advertisement."
"No, this is classic Violet. It's weird magic, vague,  off the wall, and lacking details."
"Why are we searching out this Violet character again? Was she an ex-lover or something?" Beranhond leaned down to the bird and whispered to it in the birds native language to find the shop and return to be free of the task laid upon it.
Beranhond sputtered at the suggestion "No, definitely not."
She grinned, "it's alright if she was... I'm not that jealous. At least, not yet."
Beranhond looked over her and rolled his eyes slightly. Yet, before he had a chance to respond to her teasing he heard the familiar call from a ship in the harbor.

"Beranhond! Up here! The Lady Narath has missed you!" Came the familiar voice of a half elf. Beranhond looked up at the familiar, though worn and damaged, vessel. He didn't look toward the front of the ship, worried about the state of the Narath statue, and instead looked to find the worn features of Darvin.
"Hail Darvin! Thy ship has apparently missed me for longer than I care to consider. Hast thou not found a harbor or safe passage from which thou couldst do thine repairs? I beseech thee to allow me to board promptly so that I can take inventory of the travesty that thou has wrought!" Beranhond tried to hold back a grin at the flowery speech. He suspected that Darvin thought of him as a bit pompous and decided that this was a perfect moment in which to test the man's resolve. Such flowery speech was still common in parts of the east and it was entirely possible that Berandhond's words had become overtly flowery.
"You're ridiculous, adorable, but ridiculous." Evelaen said from behind him.
"Ignore him. He's just trying to annoy you."
"Eva!" Beranhond said in feigned shock. But he burst into a grin.
"Hail Darvin, I'm glad I have found you without a journey into the dreamrealm, or one involving ghosts, goblins, and ghouls, do I have your permission to board?

  1. "Of course you have permission. I didn't climb all the way up here to just yell at you. You are still, officially, the quartermaster after all." Darvin shouted down to the dock.

He climbed down to greet Beranhond at the top of the gangplank with a big hug.

"Dear friend, I have missed you. I was sure you had not survived the disaster at Candlekeep. I would offer you some rum, but we appear to be out," Darvin declared at the end of the embrace.

  2. Beranhond laughed holding him in the embrace for a moment. "Where has all the rum gone? I do hope it hasn't all wandered into your stomach." Beranhond released the hug and gestured toward Evelaen.
"This is my." he paused for a moment. "Friend?"
Evelaen laughed. "For someone who is so good with words you seem awful at describing what we are." She stepped forward offering her hand to Darvin. "Charmed to meet you, my full name is Evelaenine, but Evelaen or Eva, is acceptable too."

  3. "It is my pleasure Eva," Darvin said as he bowed with a flourish. He also wondered how Beranhond had ended up with such a good looking companion.

Darvin turned to Beranhond, "Come, let us get you re-acquainted with the Lady Narath."

  4. Evelaen bowes in return and the three of them made their way into the deck of the ship.
"how long has this vessel been, um, land bound?" Evelaen asked looking at the general disarray of the main deck. "we'll need out to be a bit more sea worthy
if we are going to go after that treasure."
Beranhond nodded. His mind already creating a list of provisions.

  5. "Well, as far as I can remember we've been here for a couple of months," Darvin said answering Eva's question. Guybrush appeared on the rail and said to Beranhond,

"Two years, sir. Ever since..*ahem* Candlekeep. Welcome back aboard."

Darvin piped back in at that moment, "Wait, did you say treasure? What treasure?"

  6. Beranhond caught Evelaen's eye and held back a grin.
"Glad to be back on board Guybrush!" He said ripping off a near perfect salute. "treasure?" Beranhond said feigning knowledge. "no one I know would dare sail for treasure when the sea is filled with all these ships of undead..."

  7. "Well, you know me and Guybrush and we'd sail for treasure. We're tired of being stuck here. I need to feel the wind in my hair and the sea spray in my face." Darvin exclaimed excitedly.

"Aye, sir, it would do Master Darvin good to get out on the water again. Besides, I don't think there are any wood elves left in Baldur's Gate for him." Guybrush replied as well.

  8. Beranhond caught Darvin's eyes for a moment, measuring them, before turning back to look at the monkey. Evelaen turned away looking over the main deck.
"I didn't realize that Darvin only lusted for wood elves. I thought he learned his lesson from last time." Beranhond said in a surprisingly even and non humorous tone.
"Is the rest of the ship in this kind of shape?" She said picking up the frayed ropes and splintered banisters.
"Well, that can be mended." Beranhond responded. "I just hope that Violet has been able to fulfill her end of the operation."
He grabbed a seat on a barrel.
"Well, Darvin, are you ready to live up to that self-assigned title of yours?"

  9. Darvin answered Beranhond's first question before addressing the second.

"It wasn't just wood elves. There were numerous humans, a few half-elves, 2 drow, 1 sun elf, that was an amazing night, and one half-orc. Though I don't think I'll ever do that again. It's been a rough couple of months..."

    "Years," corrected Guybrush.

"Beranhond, I am sorry about the ship. I am sorry about our friends. I am sorry that we failed... I cannot do this anymore. I need to sail," Darvin answered while a single tear rolled down his cheek.

  10. Beranhond grinned, catching Evelaen's eye. He felt a bit like he was manipulating Darvin, by it was in the end ready just revealing what Darvin could actually be.
"Perfect, because we need a pirate and a sea captain. Violet had been looking for a mask that should help us turn around everything. So, if you are ready, lets go track her down and start this adventure."
