Note: His region only pronounces the B as a V when it is followed by specific vowels:
Ball=Vall
Beer=Beer
Boar=Voar
Beranhond=Beranhond.
I would go into the phonetic reasons why and IPA and such... but that is too nerdy even for D&D.
An hour later... (8:40) "I think it is time we headed out Beranhond." Tigrisclawu said while he stood up and started stretching his limbs.
"You are right. Narath knows what we will find. Though, I suspect she only recently found out." With that Beranhond sighed and stood from his kneeling position. He hoisted his backpack on to his back, took a sip of water, and started on down the road.
Halfway down the road a beggar child stood shivering, drenched
"Please, sir, I lost my family in the water." She stood holding out her hand.
Beranhond looked at her appraisingly, kneeled down, and reached out his hand.
"Take my hand child." A little nervously at first she takes it. As soon as her hand slips inside his palm a light flash between them and she falls to the ground, dried, and clad in a cloak of white.
"Know that compassion is only true when truth is given, my child. Know that you have been touched by the love of Narath and go and do her will."
The child nods and reaches once more to him.
"Who are you?"
"I am a servant of Narath, just like you." Beranhond smiles and hands her several gold coins.
As they walk away Tigrisclawu jumps onto his back and whispers in her ear.
"Why do you do that?"
"I don't do anything - Narath does. I don't fully understand it yet, but I don't really change anything. Rather Narath finds what the girl wishes she could be and calls her... but, there is still much to learn about Narath. Let's just say that people who find me or see me tend to need something from me."
"Yes, yes there is." He starts to contently purr.
By 9:30 the two enter the city and Beranhond's heart falls. All around the city people are struggling with rubble and tending the injured. Grabbing an official-looking person with a dour face he asks, "is there anything I can do? I am a trained healer."
"Thank the Gods! Yes, there is a tent back here overflowing with the sick, do what you can with them!" Beranhond's heart sinks lower when he actually enters the tent and sees the multitude of the sick and the weary.
"Tigrisclawu..."
"Yes?"
"May Narath be with us..."
I did the voice and such for this NPC and the last one - for future interactions I imagine you would prefer to do them?
ReplyDeleteAs a result, should we just ask a question and wait for you to add the NPC and then respond... all in the same post?
I am fine with you doing some of them, too. I think that you guys are all taking a lot of initiative, which is good, and I will need to bring things to you. I would say use these as rules of thumb:
ReplyDelete1.If you need direction or want guidance in the game, either roll perception or ask an NPC or something along those lines, and I can provide you with information and direction via the check or the dialogue.
2.If you want to do something, and you need an NPC's help, as you did in your post, feel free to voice them yourself.
