Breakfast and Many Meetings

Lanarra returned a few minutes later looking freshly washed. She had no sign of a night of heavy drinking and seemed to be in a lighthearted and jovial mood. Violet could detect a bit of lavendar about her as well. This caused her to smile despite herself. This woman does seem to have the resources to enjoy life. Lanarra noticed that she had put on a very pretty green summer dress and new leather boots.
"Did you want to change or wash up before we go and meet a friend of mine for breakfast?"

  1. "I would love a chance to change and clean myself. Who is your friend?" Violet was intrigued. It had been quite some time since someone had considered her close enough to introduce her to one of their other friends.

  2. "Feel free to use my chamber room. There is a bowl of fresh water, some soap, and anything else you might need." She said pointing through a door. "My friend is a fellow adventurer, she recently stopped on by here and would probably be intersted in your story."

  3. "Alright then," Violet said. "Give me a couple of minutes, and I will be ready." She quickly cleaned up and changed into her travelers' gear, which was made of tan leather with a bit of fringe and leather ties that were died a lavender. She put her leather armor in her backpack, and hid her punching dagger and a couple thunderstones and a smokestick on herself, just in case, before joining Lanarra.

"I'm ready. Let's go to breakfast," she said.

  4. Whit said he's kind of hand-waving the "memorize your spells" thing, so Violet looked at her spell book briefly while in the bathroom, but didn't spend too much time memorizing... :D Is that accurate, oh wise and powerful GM?

  5. I am just going to assume that you have spells in your spellbook prepared. You do not have to make time for it in your morning or such. Of course, don't abuse this by changing your spells right in the middle of battle...

  6. Lanarra took Violet's arm and led her down the street. She chatted animately then entire time, though Violet was unable to focus too much on the specifics of the conversation.
"Wow, a friend too? This is a good sign." Her father's voice said again. "Could be a good thing!"
Lanarra opened the door and of a small house and ushered Violet inside. The room they entered was small and bare. But there was a counter, a table, and several chairs. An elven woman sat at the table pouring over a tome.

  7. As they walked up to the woman, Violet peered at the woman and her book, trying to determine what type of book it was and see what she could discern about the woman from her appearance and possessions.

  8. The woman has the tell tale ears of an elf. Her appearance is that of one of the high elves rather than one of the sylvan elves. The tome in front of her appears to be a spellbook and she has a staff leaning against the table.

  9. "This is my friend Aranel. She is a traveler from the Evermeet." Lanarra said taking a seat at the table.
"Aranel, this is my new friend Violet."

  10. Aranel quickly pulls down a blue silk ribbon looking up as she shuts her book. "It is a please to make your acquaintance Violet." She gestures to the two seats next to her. "Would you please join me for breakfast?" She quickly slides her book into her bag as Violet and Lanarra pull out their chairs.

  11. "Thank you very much," Violet said, pulling up a seat at the table, setting her backpack on the floor leaning against her chair and wrapping her cloak under her as she sat down.

"As Lanarra said, you may call me Violet. How did the two of you meet?" Violet asked, beginning immediately with questions before anyone else had a chance.

  12. "I was friends with her grandfather and assisted him on some of his quests. I have known Lanarra, and for most of her life and her family has maintained this house for me for when I need to travel."

  13. She took a drink of water. "It is nice to have a more stable place when I travel outside of the elven lands. How did you meet Lanarra, Violet?"

  14. I suppose I walked right into that one.

Violet took a moment to answer by pouring herself and Lanarra a glass of water. "I have recently joined an expeditionary force that is currently in search of an evil god to destroy. When we stopped here for the night, I met Lanarra, who was kind enough to lend me a bed for the night." She ended with a big wink at Lanarra.

  15. "Do you venture out of elven lands often, Aranel?" Violet asked.

  16. Violet drank from her glass as and used the act as a cover for examining the rest of the room, making sure she had an exit available should she need one.

Looking for windows, doors, other furniture, people, etc. And yes, I rolled a stinking 1. These dice hate me. I may pull start pulling out real dice if this dice roller is just going to hate on me like this all the time. Also, I fixed the dice roller so it won't scroll any more. And this is how it repays me.

  19. Oh I travel every few years. There is rarely need for my kind to travel outside of our realm. Once I reached 100 I realized that the elders are correct, but I still enjoy getting a break from them.

    Where are you from?

  20. " I'm not sure I have somewhere I am from any more. My life is lived as a journey. What brings you here now? "Violet asked.

  21. "I was sent by the elven elders to find out exactly what is going on this world. This part of the world seems to be falling into darkness and they want to make sure that it won't cause any problems for them."

    ReplyDelete
  22. "What have you discovered so far?" Violet asked. She had not met many elves who actually lived in elven lands.

  23. "I haven't heard a lot, but I did hear some odd stories about the orcs having problems with a group of outside adventurers. Our efforts at divination only revealed that the sea druids are making some moves and that Lathanderian forces are nearly lost to this rising force."
Lanarra placed a mug of tea in front of her.
